The city just north of me is apparently smelling of sulfur. I suppose we'll have it by the weekend here... And we've had such nice weather this week  :-\

I could recommend some great places to go, as long as you remember I lived there 20 years ago.

With that in mind you should totally check out the Launchpad for kids at the Science Museum, and the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre.  Their pool has a wave machine!

The kicker is the toll free number to rebook isn't toll free for foreign phones, and no one wants to pay 200 dollars to be on hold, so the seats are all going to locals  :-\

Public phones! Or use Skype etc.

My cousin and his wife are stuck in Europe because of this. It's their honeymoon, so it's not the end of the world or anything.

I had a friend who had to cancel his trip to Amsterdam because of the same thing.  I really felt bad for him as he had to take his vacation at another locale.

Fucking Iceland.

I spent all morning and afternoon trying to take relatives to SFO to go to Iran and every possible flight was cancelled. My uncle hadn't been there in 25 years and gets his flight cancelled by a fucking volcano...

i'm stuck in goddamn CORK IRELAND so we're in the same boat my friend. :swisscry :swisscry :swisscry

i can't get my company's travel agency on the phone because the special section that's set up for apple is closed on saturday and sunday (yes even during this crisis apparently). i have to compete with thousands of other people on hold to contact the main office. fuck that.

and yes iceland is on my shit list for a good long while now. there's only, like, what 300,000 people there? no one will miss them, just nuke the fucking country, although i don't know if that would actually do anything to stop the asshole of the earth there that's spewing its diarrhea shit all over europe and fucking up my plans and payroll cutoff is on wednesday and fdalkgh;kghfds;f

i just gave up and booked my hotel til wednesday, i hope to god i don't have to actually stay here that long but i don't want to have to be without a room/change rooms either... especially since they booked me an APARTMENT whoa. i actually went out and bought groceries to put in my kitchen.

i'm going to try to get in touch with our point of contact at the travel agency tomorrow. if i can just get a direct flight to anywhere within a 5 hour radius of zürich i'll take it.

Every extra day spent in Ireland is now utterly intolerable, isn't it. Just imagine 20 years!

i don't mind the people, they're all very nice and helpful compared to the swiss, but what i have noticed that kind of doesn't jive with my newfound swiss love of order is that everything is so... chaotic here! i went to dunnes stores today to get a cheap bathing suit so i could go in the hotel pool and the store was a mess, there were tons of people, stuff lying around, haha... the streets were full of people and they all just jaywalk all the time! you jaywalk in switzerland and you get a fine 99% of the time because there are cops everywhere. i haven't even seen a single cop once yet here. there are always drunken people outside the hotel. there is a lot of garbage lying around. etc. it's funny, i kind of think it gives the place character. but i don't think i could stand living here!

For reals.  I can't watch anything from the UK without subtitles.

dude, try ireland. some of these cab drivers, i have no idea what they're saying. are they even speaking english? they could be speaking chinese and i would probably understand more.

I'd have to agree with you there Cloud

I remember when I first got to the UK. I had trouble understanding half the shit the people said ( and 100% of what Irish people said). But you get used to it after some time though.

Heck, I prefer the Irish and Scottish nowadays, since they don't come off so...Keira Knightley-ish.

Sort of happy that we decided to move our flight up a week, might have gotten stuck in this crap otherwise. The wife may have to go back for a funeral this or next week, though, hopefully the air up north is clear then.

Rush Limbaugh says that the volcanic eruption is god's anger at heath care reform being passed.

Because nothing shows anger at the US like shutting down flights over yerop.

I was supposed to meet up with cloudwalking this morning but got stuck on the phone with british airways and then the fucking phone broke in my hotel room and then i found out that the bank fucked up our corporate cards in spectacular fashion (issuing them under personal credit to the members, instead of the business) so i have to somehow sort that out because the reprecussions could be big.  Bunch of bullshit today.  Why won't BA just let me change my flight online?  FUCK YOU BA.

Why did you call it a curry connect?  UK curry is pretty good, at least based on my experiences with a British restaurant in Pasadena.  It's basically just Indian Curry but slightly adjusted for white people who can't handle the maximum heat.

Do the Indian restaurants in UK have lunch buffets like they do in the US?  Also, Cohen, did you get that green spinach stuff with cheese or potatoes?  It's one of my favorites.

lol, Brick Lane by any chance?

and yes, British curries are absolutely OFF THE CHART amazing.

Luckily a British Indian guy out here runs an amazing curry house in Shinagawa. :bow Curry :bow2

Yeah, Tokyo has some nice Indian restaurants.  Portions, though, are minuscule.   :fbm
