I sort of wish the Lakers to Celtics ratio was different on GAF so that if the Celtic do choke, it would be more entertaining. Lakers-Age are crying blooder murder right now :lol

Kobe = 38 points. Other 11 Lakers: 48 points

Kobe = 13-27 FG 48%   Other 11 Lakers=18-51 FG 35%

That was the game right there. The rest of the team just collapsed in that one.

Kobe wasn't shit until the 3rd either. I hope all of the Celtics show up (fuckin Ray Allen...) in game 6 and end this early.

I called it a long time ago.  Celtics' best chance to win is if Kobe decides to play hero and take Gasol out of the equation.

Still, it will be hard for the Celts to win it all in LA.  I peg their chances at 55%.

I went out for dinner and missed the entire 4th quarter.  Did Lakers ever make it close?

No because Pau is a sack of shit and Lakers' bench is useless on the road.

edit: Actually I guess it was within 5 somewhere in the last 2 minutes but it felt like a blowout the whole time

Celtics can't stop Gasol. So of course Kobe is going to ignore him and try to win this by himself. So fucking predictable.

There will probably be a game 7. Some folks think some fishy shit is going on, but the games seemed decently called to me, by NBA standards.

They could have shown him some love in the first two quarters when Kobe was throwing up garbage, but he had plenty of touches in the second half. It pains me to admit it because I hate the prick, but Garnett just shut him down. I distinctly remember two blocks in a row on Pau in the third quarter, right around when Bryant had scored 17 consecutive Laker points or something ridiculous

Lulz at trying to blame Kobe for that loss last night. Pau has been playing very well in the series but he simply wasn't last night.

It's pretty obvious to me that Bynum is the key to Pau playing well against the Celtics. When Bynum is active and mobile, the Lakers rule the paint, get the Celtics' bigs into foul trouble and get lots of easy looks. That also keeps the ball moving on offense for the Lakers, as Pau is a very willing passer. And even Kobe can't resist the easy lobs to Bynum.

With Bynum out, the mauling of Pau starts about 18 feet out, and he rarely gets good position. Rasheed and KG drive him nuts with constant pawing, bumping and jawing. Big Baby can't go over or around Pau and Bynum together, but he can get around Pau solo pretty well. KG can score in any manner of ways when he has the extra room to move - Odom can't bother his shot, and Pau can't keep him out of the paint. Basically, with Bynum reduced to about 15 mins of play last night, the Lakers' game devolved to bad jump shots and free throws. They did pretty well with that, 'cause they have Kobe making incredible shots, but I think the Celtics have their number now. Their D is just ridiculous, and they've found enough ways to score on the Lakers to get it done, even if they make huge numbers of appalling flubs. Perkins running the break? Fouling Kobe on a 3? Not to mention all those bobbled layups.

Props to Kobe for taking the charge though!

I think him and Fisher have been the only Lakers to take a charge this whole series, possibly the post-season. Should also give Kobe props for his defensive effort too - there was one play where he picked up 3 Celtics in succession on the perimeter. Just an incredible amount of hustle, and he was in foul trouble too.

Hard to believe that it isn't since Finals ratings have been so abysmal for most of the post-Jordan era.  NBA is desperate for a game 7 between the Lakers and Celtics.

Izzo staying

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5290541

Right decision. Even on a LeBron led team, I don't think Izzo would be a great fit. He's the best coach in college basketball, and wants a second championship to cement his legacy.

Rondo needs to take it all the way to the hole.  His athleticism makes him almost unstoppable in the paint whereas his jumper is garbage, regardless of how open he is.
