So why is gaming so damn good?

Gamers playing the PS1 games with the shitty ~10 FPS framerates and nasty swimming textures. 

Not like the other 2 systems were all that much better.

Well, let's be fair. Saturn 2d > psx 2d.

Street Fighter, where both players had to choose the same two characters to be able to switch them out at will because the PSX didn't have enough RAM to store more than two characters at the same time?  Not to mention all the frames that got cut out of the game.

It was a good system, I admit. But about 60% of its best games haven't aged well, and the N64's best were definitely better than the PS1's.

I agree wholeheartedly. My only gripe is that I don't have the money to buy everything I want to play. There is just too much awesome.

That's one of the worst examples.  The Saturn version was only that good because of the 4MB RAM cart.  Marvel Super Heroes sucked on both systems, despite the Saturn version making use the 1MB RAM cart.  Despite the cut frames, Capcom still showed the PSX could do a good job with 2D when they released Street Fighter Alpha 3.  That was an amazing, amazing port.  Shitloads of extras, the world tour mode, the extra characters...they outdid themselves.

Using CDs and being able to make games with more than 4 textures, actual voices, fmvs, good sound > Being able to make games with only 4 different textures because they used expensive shitty carts which loaded fast.

I admit I enjoyed Majora's Mask a lot but out of all the N64 games I tried replaying recently (OoT, Starfox, Mario64, GoldenEye) it's the only one I thought was really cool.
