Cormacaroni, who is as fit as a fiddle, has been preaching the primal ways. However, having been away from cakes, pies, and scones for 10 years, having been absent from the USA during the ascent of the microbrew/craft beer movement, I am not about to cut out carbs just at the point where I'm moving back to having easy access to it. So... yeah. American food addict.

I am conscious about what I'm eating, not trying to overtly control it yet. It'll be another week or two before I resort to my normal "no snacks" diet, which is usually pretty effective. I'm also going for more regular walks. I had to walk to and from the station each day in Japan, but Americans don't really walk anywhere.

I did however cut out milk, bread, rice and other things Paleo associates as bad. I use to go through a gallon of milk a week and I haven't purchased milk since probably October.

Money isn't everything. I make over $100,000 a year and there are some days where I feel like killing myself. While everyone goes to a job for the money, you should also go to a job that doesn't make you feel sick before walking through the doors. The thing with making more money is that you're more or less expected to take on additional duties if need be. While at first you say "fuck yeah, bring it on," after a while, it will wear on you. Then you see life passing you by as week after week of 50, 60, 70, or 80 hour work weeks kill off any kind of free time you had or wanted.

I was a happy go-lucky guy before I got this job. Let this be a lesson!

I'm an accountant and it's definitely not for the money.

But I'm extremely happy at my job, even though I'm busy as shit while I'm there. Great work/life balance, and a huge variety of work that needs to be completed. If I had a higher paying accounting job, I'd likely be right back to where I was last year, working 80 hours a week and hating life. And I actually enjoyed the work I did, but between the hours, clinically insane employers, and constant pestering from employees on my personal cell, I never had a chance to actually do what I was hired to do. I'd rather make less money and see my family than ever have a job like that again.

I actually love the type of accounting I work with (tax accounting), and I'm able to talk to people on a daily basis who aren't my coworkers. All the other accountants at work just look at spreadsheets all day and bitch at people when things don't balance. Fuck all that. I can't imagine working with financial accounting on a day to day.

Not really. Junior graphic designer position is getting me 40k a year.

A senior graphic designer position, maybe 5 years in, can net me 60k or more a year, really depends on the industry you're going for.

40k isn't that high but I certainly won't starve. But it's impossible to stay as a junior gd'er, especially as you gain more experience because it has the word junior in it for a reason.
