I played that Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii

It was surprisingly fun.

Two things, though. Is it me or did it look only marginally better than the DS one? And how long is it?

It's a good 6 hours if you get everything.  How did you get your hands on a Wii?

What? That's a little more than how long it took if you play through it without getting everything.

Really? The game isn't that long.

Its nine worlds, so its as long as any of the old mario games.  There's a ton of secrets and certain levels only unlock after you collect the star coins in each level or find the secret exit.  I enjoyed it moreso than Galaxy if only because if you can round up some people to play with its gut bustingly hilarious.  Its simultaneously co-op and counter-op depending on how vengeful youre feeling.

edit: about the graphics. Hmm, its technically better in every way that counts.  They go the safe route with the art design so I could say its just unambitous.  Its essentially the finished product to the beta that was the ds version.

RoboJ is either god or really bad with timing things  :lol

NSMB Wii is like 6+ hours without gold coins, 20-30 hours for an all coin run & secrets 100% run.

The game is fugly and the waggle parts are dumb, but it's a great platformer in a world of not many great platformers anymore.

There is no way it's 6 or more hours if you are just blazing through stages. I did it in 22 hours or so with 100% profile. Time verified on the gay Wii channel that tells you these things.

And that's with BSing too. I did one run straight through getting as many coins as I could. Then I did a co op run with my fiance and we prioritized stages I hadn't already gotten all 3 coins in. Then once we had done all of those, I went back to the ones that she kept dying on (which was a good chunk of them) and got the last of the coins myself.

Its mostly harmless.  The only problematic implementation is trying to dismount a yoshi and not activating your propellor helmet.

not to be a dick but did it really take 20+ hours for you guys? between this and people saying the game was hard, I don't get what is going on.  I'm not good at video games and I got 100% everything in under 10 hours (around an hour per world) and didn't think it was hard.

and agreed with prole about the terrible waggle stages.  I liked the waggle spin jump that is always there, but waggling to pick things up and tilting things is terrible and unnecessary.  Once I had 99 lives, literally the only time it went below were those stages where you tilted platforms.  It was only challenging because the game didn't let me play naturally, which apparently involves me holding the controller constantly tilted left.

actually, the game does get significantly harder when playing with friends.  At least playing it solo the game is easy and not that long, but two people playing at once makes things harder unless you're both perfectly synchronized.  Playing with three others is hilarious and fun but you won't be making any progress.

It wasn't ridiculously hard, but I can't think of any Mario that was harder since SMB2 lost levels.  Getting all the coins seemed like it took about as long as going through Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy and getting all the stars/shines.

It was definitely less than that for me. It took me 25 or 26 hours to get all 120 stars in SMG, and that was without adding gametime by bullshitting around in co op modes as I did with NSMBW.

It's pretty hilariously awesome in multiplayer, but I don't know that I'd really want to play it all that much in singeplayer.

It's a very good single player platformer, but not something that stands out significantly.

When played with a few people though, fucking hell.  So much fucking fun.

yeah, co-op is where you play the most but I was talking about if you only played it straight through

I played through single player on my wii taking it a world every other day or week, collecting all the coins and all that before moving forward.  The multiplayer I played at a friends house on a different wii, and since it is a hassle to transfer saves around, the times are probably different.

I mean, it's nice that memory cards aren't required anymore, but I wish there was an easy system on these consoles to transferring saves and all that.  I still can't play that Mario Soccer game on the Wii because all my progress is saved on a friend's console.

It's the latter.  :lol

I just checked my save file.  I've got gamer amnesia.  It seemed like I played NSBWii ages ago.

It's ok, when I say approximate times I'm usually about 10 hours off.  Time moves faster in my head than it does in real life.  Downside of being too fast for this world.

Game would've been absolutely fucking amazing if they cut out the waggle and had an option to use the Classic Controller. Still an awesome game with some great level design. Stage 9-7 is absolutely insane.
