New God of War PSP game
« on: May 05, 2010, 11:22:33 AM »
How come no one has talked about this game yet?  It looks pretty nice.  I actually had more fun with the 1st PSP game than GOW3.  The PSP game just had less of the extraneous stuff that drag down games of the main series.

God of War fans –

I’m pleased to share some exciting news involving our favorite Spartan warrior. Fresh off his incredible run in God of War III, Kratos will be coming back to PSP and PSPgo in God of War: Ghost of Sparta!

The last time we saw Kratos on the portable platform was in God of War: Chains of Olympus, a game that coupled stunning visuals with stellar gameplay and is still the highest rated PSP title of all-time on Metacritic.com. So what can you expect this time?

First of all, it’s developed by Ready At Dawn Studios, in close collaboration with SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio, so we have the same talented team that brought you Chains of Olympus — they know the franchise and know what it takes to create an amazing game. I can also tell you from
first-hand experience that we are pushing the limits of what PSP can do with state-of-the-art visual technologies, higher resolution environments, and greater depths of scale. We’re also providing over 25% more gameplay, an improved weapon system, and new magical powers — all enjoyed anytime, anywhere.

Running in 1080P  :omg

Why does Sony even bother with the PSP anymore? I got about halfway through the first one but never bothered to go back and finish it.

I have to agree with hottie Jinfash.
I'm getting tired of GOW.
So meh. Game still looks better than any Wii game so far, though.

Goddammit Sony, enough GOWs already! Instead wasting the good talents of Santa Monica/Ready at Dawn, why not ask them to produce something different? ANYTHING at this point will do.

God, I can't play another GoW after 3's faggotry of an ending. *shudder*

Surprisingly, many hardcore gamers would probably agree with you.  Like Wrika said, the gaming community just stopped talking about GOW3 pretty soon after its release.  I can't remember the last time that happened to such a high profile title that was reviewed so well.

Too bad that's not how it really looks on the PSP.  :fbm

GoW 3 exceeded my expectations. I think it was a bit too short and it didn't make me want to go back and immediately replay it, which would kind of explain why people stopped talking about it. I still think its the best PS3 exclusive

I think they're all fun popcorn rides.  The first PSP one was really entertaining and had the scope, mythology (atlasssss) and fun of the console versions.  The last area in the garden was gorgeous looking.

I don't mind short games at all.  ZoE2 is one of my favorite games of all time and I beat it in one sitting the first time I played it.  I can't play handheld games in long sessions so even if it's only 4-5 hours it'll last me a week, which works for me.

Because the PSP makes them money?

Anyways, Sony need to introduce the successor to the PSP. Hopefully E3 2010 is where they'll do it!

Agreed.  Kratos' poor old me routine has gotten really tired.  They should have made Kratos the bad guy at the end so that you can tackle him in the next game.  It would have been better than the weak and unconvincing attempt to make Kratos more sympathetic at the end of GOW3.

I enjoyed it for what it was, more than I expected. However the way they decided to conclude the game left a bad taste in my mouth; I had to endure all that insufferable rage and over-the-top violence just so he could pull a 180 at the end and become a pussy?

I hate him more than I did before, I hate his rage, I hate his revenge, I don't wanna have to sit through another game listening to him whine about it, I don't wanna help him achieve it... again. Just kill the franchise already.

Yeah, kill a multi-million dollar franchise because a guy on the internet didn't like the ending  :lol

Not just any guy on the internet though, you're talking about a Saudi prince and the one and only double Icon on the Bore.

I hated the lack of character consistency at the end of GoW3 as well (see my comments in the game thread), but it wasn't enough to sour the awesome levels. I never thought the story was great (cept for first one) and the voice actor has always been annoying, so I guess I was expecting those things. And I agree, they are tiresome

I agree with your concern Jin, but the PSP is in its worst content drought yet (haven't played mine in months :() so I am not going to complain about Sony trying to bring some games over. The series has pretty much run its course, but I don't think another handheld title will do much to hurt

After taking all of that into account, complaining about a new high profile PSP game is pretty ridiculous.

Especially when it's free.   :derp

I'll play this, but I agree that the PSP is dead and it is baffling as to why it still has big games coming out on it.  Upcoming games (including some that aren't in America yet):  Monster Hunter Portable 3, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Kingdom Hearts, MGS Peace Walker, this new God of War, Parasite Eve 3, Resident Evil, etc.

I really like the PSP, but I mean, the 3DS is gonna be out soon and there are rumors of the PSP2 and the PSP seems nonexistent in the west.  Hopefully the PSP2 does come out soon and it is fully backwards compatible.

as for the God of War series, I'm fine with Sony continuing it and the games seem to sell well but I don't think it should still be a game on the scale of Uncharted or w/e.  All four games are basically the same formula; it is in the comfort gaming zone with things like Ratchet&Clank and Gears.  I have low expectations and as long as it hits on what was enjoyable before, I'll check it out.
