I bought the RR collection off Good Old Games a while back, was disappointed that it didn't run well on my netbook (DOSbox wrapper had some issues)

Man, I remember RR, but I never played the full version. I always wanted to.

Also, there was some old Win 95 game that was some sort of mob game. You could extort different businesses, and once you owned them, you drew income from them, and could upgrade them to different illegal activity, like a speakeasy, and a brothel, and such.

I wanna say it was called something to do with crime, or mob, or something. I could never find the full version of that game. I always wanted to try it.

Excellent Borecast! Very funny stuff. I wanted to add an opinion to the discussion of why small towns and communities are leary of letting porn stores in. In some cases, it may be a concern that a porn store could be a gateway for organized crime. Rather like letting gambling into a bowling alley. Perhaps, anyway.

Not that I think there's validity to that idea neccessarily. It's an opinion but not mine.

Okay, just finished listening to it. The porn store stuff was hilarious.

Eel is still my personal favorite part of the podcast (his voice just sounds so soothing...no homo...well, maybe a little

), and I really enjoy Prole and Frag talking about games. They're both great at articulating what exactly it is that they enjoy/get a kick out of the games they're discussing.

Prole's thoughts on Nier were interesting, I picked up a copy myself (the Japanese version works in English when you have your system settings to English), and am now looking forward to playing through it sooner rather than later.

I think the thing about Prole's reviews is, though, something he mentioned recently, which is that he's lucky to play through 10 hours of a game. I sometimes wonder if this makes him more tolerant of gameplay problems in a particular game (since he's not going to be playing it for a long time), or less (since he has less time to waste on gameplay issues).

I've got a downloadable copy of Cryostasis. Does anyone on the Borecast want to check it out? It seems to be in line with the lower budget games that you guys like to talk about. I haven't played it but I know it's got some nice PhysX effects and plenty of bugs. I don't think it's terrible enough to be part of the Se7en challenge though so Eel doesn't have to worry about that.
