Maybe a little of both; it was never that popular a game to begin with (it didn't really make it in arcades).  You can have some great matches, but the problem is that it is always a random match-up and there is no way to accept or deny the match beforehand.  Rage quitters are supposedly "punished" by only getting matched up with other rage quitters after a while, but I was still running across them the last time I played.

The best way I figured out how to play online with friends was to jump onto Xbox Live and ask people I know that have the game for a match.  Then we use XBL to communicate while playing the game.   :P

Capcom did a good job considering the Wii's online limitations, but there's no question that the game would have been much better on the PS3/360 for the online alone.  I am glad MvC3 is getting a proper console release.

you should see MH3
it doesn't even seems like a wii game
there are no friend codes
no lags
you can chat with total strangers
you can even search people by nick!
it's like... you stepped into another world

I'm interested in the game, but it would probably just sit on the shelf if I got it.

it still looks better than all the mh games before it. the actual enemies look good, the environments are a bit flat and there's a bit too much bloom for my taste.

monster hunter's prob is the fucktarded camera

a shadow's tale interests me the most

Other M hasn't done anything to convince me its not hopelessly corrupted by team ninja

Xenoblade's vastness interests me, but the areas I've seen aren't all that captivating. I love exploring, but part of the allure of exploring is providing a space that offers some interest. So, we'll see.

The original announcement of Wii Party shows Nintendo has yet to bridge the gap between the entrance games and the established genres, and from a games standpoint, the progress of the medium through Wii is still a struggle between the visceral Wii experience and the subdued yet beefier classic gaming experience. Nintendo is separating their Metroid and jRPG anouncements to one month, and then later coming back and saying "hey everybody else! It's Mii time!"
