I'm pretty sure fanboys make up a sizeable chunk of the market for the HD consoles, at least.  Plus, you've got to add the value of word of mouth to that. "This game has a 90% on Metacritic!" sounds awfully impressive.

I don't doubt that Mario Galaxy 2 is an excellent game, though.  Just have absolutely no interest in it myself.

Saw an advertisement for this game when in Miami, didn't realize it was coming out so soon. Not really as hyped as I was for the first one... but I'm sure it'll be awesome when all is said and done. But I would have really wanted a New Super Mario Bros Wii 2 instead

Yeah they idolize Miyamoto. They do the same shit with Molyneux as if he's some debonair super developer twisting his empty rhetoric about his games into signs of genius

As to why the game got a lower score than the first, the review details some some stars that are quite frustrating to obtain. Apparently, one star in particular took the reviewer no less than 4 hours to grab. Also, according to the review, there are some motion-controlled moves that are "extremely poor."
