The Arcades of Japan - a picture collection
« on: May 09, 2010, 09:21:55 PM »
Do you want to sit and look at pictures of Japanese arcades and get all weeabosexual?

Then i have the collection for you !

http://www.flickr.com/photos/dcharlie/collections/72157624007899446/

Sort of happened by accident and largely shitty pictures - some older stuff up there too.

Throwing it out there as some of you might enjoy them.

Will be updating the collection fairly regularly.

Shouldn't this be on the gaming side, though.

Don't the people in the arcades freak out when you start taking pictures of them?

I dig the Sega Gigo over in Ikebukuro.  Haven't been there since they closed down the Sakura Taisen Romando Shop/Cafe.

cool stuff :)  It's always interesting how different looking Japanese arcades are from those in the US.

As old as this random google picture probably is, arcades in 2010 in CA still look exactly like that.

I found a Japanese arcade in Victoria, BC this weekend. Played some Gundam vs. Gundam Next in an Astrocity cab. :rock

There's a couple of good arcades near me, I just hope that they get the Terminator Salvation arcade game soon.

This is cool! I've thought about doing something similar, just with nickel arcades here in Utah (:-\).

didn't take too many pictures, but I consider the PINBALL HALL OF FAME the best arcade in the states. 180 pinball machines and old school arcade games. :drool

I think it's hilarious that American arcades are (were?) known for being these dark, forbidding places... and Japanese arcades are these light, forbidding (for anyone but nerdlingers!) places!  :lol

Great, great, great fucking pix dcharlie. Consider me all spooging.

Arcades in the Seattle area are pretty crappy. There's a Gameworks downtown and a couple places in the suburbs, but that's it.

I've taken so many girls out on dates to arcades in Japan.  Luckily they're usually divided in areas so we go to the parts with the print club picture machines and the UFO catcher machines.

There's a really big one close to where I live that's right below the movie theater and it's really awesome.  It's divided into an area with kids' games (Tetris, Mario Kart, etc.) and print club booths, another area for the UFO catcher stuff, another area for the coin machines, and another area for darts and fighting game and Beatmania/shmups/hardc0r gamer stuff.

Take a girl to the movie and then spend a half hour at the game center before going to dinner. :heartbeat

There used to be a pretty cool arcade at a mall that I went to a lot, but it's pretty much just a shadow of its former self these days.  :-\

My wife and I had fun at the arcades in Japan. She played Taiko games while I tried out Gundam: Bonds of the Battlefield (  :o :o :o :o ) and Border Break.

Taiko games are also great to play together, along with shooting games.

Did you ever check out that Gundam shooter?  I forgot its name, you piloted a Zaku.  I've only seen it in a ocuple of arcades.  Secret enemies were Gundam Alex and the Full Armor Gundam (you fought them if you took certain routes), and the gun was shaped like a Zaku machine gun.

I've seen it before online, but I never stumbled upon it while there.

I only played it once...tbh, I don't like playing those games by myself, they're way more fun when you're shooting it out with a friend.  They should port it to XBL or PSN or something.  It was awesome!

Yeah, shooting games are damn fun to play on a date.  I remember doing a run on the Rambo game with a girl, it was hilarious, she got really into it. :lol
