I know Cohen hates them. But what's the general EB consensus on this things? I made the mistake of tying them to my Facebook/Twitter account. Not a good idea. But they have actually helped me try more things and the meta game with the badges is kinda cool. Right?

Ah yeah, probably. And I guess I don't have a problem with it. I wouldn't have use for it, but I can see people in metropolitan areas that like broadcasting their every move to the world liking it. Especially since there are badges.

Yeah. I turned off broadcasting. I didn't want to sound like major tool to my Twitter/FB people. But I like because it becomes an urban playlist of sorts for your favorite hotspots. The badges also encourage you to try new things.

Gowalla is pretty bad. Their portable app doesn't allow searching by names and a lot of other parts of it are lacking. The big draw of Gowalla is the mini-geocaching added. Even devs are bitching because their API fucking sucks.
Foursquare is really all you need to invest in.

I'm afraid it'll just confirm my suspicion that nobody finds me worth bothering to stalk and harass.

My friends are all hooked on it, and they're trying to get me to buy a Blackberry and participate... I don't feel like I need to broadcast to the world where I am at all times.

A couple of my friends are on foursquare. I don't think I go out enough to use it.
