You know, I'm up for an awesome Killzone game and I'm willing to give the third one a shot. There are a couple of problems though:

- First game was complete and utter shit
- Second game had horrible controls and felt very slow

Yeah, not really hyped for this one but Naughty Dog involvement gives me hope. Those guys know how to make a fun game with solid controls.

I think graphically Killzone 2 was and still is an amazing game. I thought as an actual game though it wasn't quite so amazing. Good but not great.

Especially the controls and the input lag.

TripleA is my new favorite poster. :teehee

So is my alt.

So you think I'm Methodis.

No. I think you have the same lame gimmick as Methodis

Which is

Playing stupid like you are doing now and being a raging fanboy.

At this point I will drop it though simply because unlike you I generally want threads to be about game discussion rather than fanboy shit. Perhaps you can remember what that was before you became what you are.

Playing stupid? Sorry, you must have me confused with your reflection.

Now, as for the last sentence; that was really deep  :himu

I think that Naughty Dog involvement is not about making the game better.
3D is the key...Killzone 2 didn't even have split-screen,tough work to be done

But post-processing runs at 360p upscaled,so they will have no problems with that. :smug

One more thing

This will probably be a showcase 3D title for Sony, together with GT5(zzz,racing game,no guns,no explosions)

It doesn't have much real word hype, but it has rabid hardcore fanatics...ideal audience for expensive 3D TVs

If they fuck that,3D will be proclaimed as meh the game is shit, who cares about 3D.

Yeah, reviewers really dropped the ball on this one.  It's like they all believed that Killzone 2 was AAA after the devs fed them a bunch of bs about how technologically impressive it was.

That pretty much explains why Sony is coming out with another sequel for such a middling franchise.  People are just fucking stupid in general; if you tell them something long and hard enough, they will believe it.

It worked for Iron Man so why not expect that it'll work for Killzone?

Add to that better lod systems that doesn't make characters textures distort in some whacky way when they die. And let's give a nod to the level of geometry, physics, animation, character models, effects like snow .

All Killzone 2 has going for it is over use of motion blur and a lightning system that is pretty good. Everything else wasn't anything special for the time, the characters, the particle effects (explosions look like utter shit) etc.

All Killzone 2 has on Uncharted 2 is a midget with a severe case of head trauma that makes everything go blur when he moves.

And speaking of the game itself, good god mate. I read about these amazing setpieces that happen like the train...what the fuck, i played that shit, there was nothing amazing about it. The game is boring, sluggish, doesn't have anything to say and has really bad characters.

Why is it even getting hyped when the sequel did about as well as Resistance 2 (not a compliment) is just funny.

I've always thought the bias most hardcore gamers and reviewers have is that they think automatically great graphics equal great gameplay. So suddenly in praising the great graphics they often let that slip over into the gameplay. When honestly they are two separate things almost completely.

I love how much hype Killzone 2 received before the game launched when Guerilla Game's game portfolio at the time consisted of mostly shitty games and completely shitty games when they were known as Lost Boys. I guess Liberation was pretty decent but that was neither a FPS or on a console.

Because Sony bought them, and pumped a lot of money into tech. That's it.

It's crazy how much hype (insert Sony title) got... 10,000 post threads at GAF with sfags circle-jerking each other off 24/7 for months on end.  I'm shocked to find out the game turned out to be nothing more than an average (insert type of game), stunned!  Disgusting sfags..

This template pretty much works for any Sony exclusive.  I just ripped it off K-bear.  :lol

I enjoyed Killzone 2. I felt a bit lost with the multiplayer, which I liked more in theory than in execution. I always felt like the matches took too long and felt like there weren't enough options in match types. Also, I felt like the GAF clan was kind of an insular group, and not very welcoming.

I'd like to see more info on Killzone 3, though the idea of the game being in 3d and using the Move does nothing for me, as I'm not going to be purchasing a 3D TV for years and I couldn't care less about waggle. I actually liked Killzone 2's controls, especially the way they felt during the beta.

At the least, it'll be interesting to see how 3D is implemented in Killzone 3.  Killzone 2 barely ran at 30fps and it's well known that true 3D has a huge impact on performance.

The effects in Killzone 2 are top notch (even if they use sub HD buffer resolutions) but I prefer the superior art direction, texturing, shadows, lighting, and environment design in Uncharted 2. Plus the overused motion blur reduces the visual fidelity IMO.

Lighting goes to Killzone 2. You're crazy if you think Uncharted 2 had more impressive lighting.

Also, the art direction in KZ2 was phenomenal; they really nailed the atmosphere in that game.

By lighting, do you mean lens-flare and effects like that?

Uncharted had much more a much more vibrant and colorful style.  Hell there's no way KZ2 had any HDR.

I'm talking about everything to do with lighting. Uncharted 2 definitely had more color, I believe I mentioned this a few posts up.

The only game in recent memory that had very impressive lighting was BF:BC2 on PC. And that's a directx 11 game.

There is nothing specifically, it's everything. From the lens-flare to the way the light bounces off a Helghans mask onto his clothes (diffusion), the lighting in KZ2 is unreal.

Lighting goes to Killzone 2. You're crazy if you think Uncharted 2 had more impressive lighting.

I think Naughty Dog had a more impressive lighting engine with their pre-pass system. They used deferred rendering in addition to forward rendering which is a step above what Killzone 2 was capable of.

Of course Lens-flares are post process effects, that is common knowledge.

Here's your post: They used deferred rendering in addition to forward rendering which is a step above what Killzone 2 was capable of.

Now here's my post: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:2ZmcjgPWtSsJ:www.guerrilla-games.com/publications/dr_kz2_rsx_dev07.pdf+killzone+2+forward+rendering&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

"Forward & Deferred Rendering Overview".

Your post now makes no sense.

@Amnintenho, here's a 720p screenshot of BF:BC2 running with HBAO turned on.

Naughty Dog produced a very elegant lighting system that I believe is a step beyond Killzone 2's simple and post processor reliant system.

But this isn't the same as "They used deferred rendering in addition to forward rendering which is a step above what Killzone 2 was capable of."

It's interesting how you claim I don't know what I'm talking about, yet it is you who was just proven wrong  :)

For them, it's impossible to separate the game and the machine. It's this fanatical reasoning that carries them to see Killzone and Playstation as one and the same that really makes them the greatest console warriors that have ever lived.

So wait, you need a 3D tv for the 3D shit right?

If so, lol at Sony.

3D is an added feature for people who have 3D televisions (coming soon from Sony!), not the only way to play the game. Even without 3D this is a sequel to one of the best looking games on consoles, arguably better than anything on 360, a game that has a Metacritic score is in the 90's and was GAF's FPS of the year in 2009.
