Are Nintendo wasting their time making hardcore games on the wii?

Most hardcore gamers either completely shunned the Wii or modded it vowing never to but the games because of the weak hardware.  So when a hardcore game gets released on the wii it gets low sales.  Do you think they should bother?  Should they keep their games for next gen?

I am one of the few people who think that devs should get rewarded for making good games, it pains me to see a good game selling like 100k total.  I am really hoping people buy a game like Xenoblade and Last Story but i am not holding my breath.

From a financial perspective, probably not.

But I think they actually enjoy making good games.

I'd say the market is there for actually purchasing games, but the competition from X360 and PS3 is just too strong in terms of content and game line-up. theres a great amount of stuff I want to play on Wii, but I find the price point of Wii software far too prohibitive. Where I live Wii games DONT go down in price. i wanted to play Battalion Wars 2, but its still 110 DOLLARS rrp. A good 360/PS3 title will be <$60 pretty quickly.

That is weird, why is Battalion Wars still 110 when games like Punchout drops in price?  I can understand games like SMG which sells continuously though.

I dont know, I live in a small country where Nintendo products have always been very expensive. I guess the distribution sucks? At school everyone had a Megadrive cos SNES was too expensive, ditto for N64 and GC.

New Zealand. I could import from the UK, I guess. A friend of mine over there says games are much cheaper and internation shipping costs are like 2 quid.

Lies!  Casuals arent unpredictable, they just go with what is cheap and hip at the time.  The ps1 and ps2 were seen as scheap because people needed cd players and dvd players respectively.  No one needs a blu ray yet.

Definitely Sega-Land. I had never even played a SNES until near the end of the next gen when I bought one cheap at a game store closing sale. Everyone I knew as a kid owned Sega consoles.
