Help me pare down my library
« on: December 20, 2006, 10:36:03 PM »
I have a problem.  I buy games constantly and don't have time to play them.  What's worse, I buy games just because the price is right - case in point a ton of decent Xbox1 games have hit the bargain bins for 8-12 bucks Canadian a piece and I've bought about 8 of them in the past week.

I want to pare down to a manageable library of about 50 games in total.  Help me go through the clutter and come up with a list!  The other games are going into storage...I don't want to sell them because it's a terrible return for the money and also who knows, I might wax nostalgic one day and want to dig out Alien Hominid or Final Fantasy Origins and have a go.

Anyway, I have a Gamecube, and PS2 and an X360 hooked up to my main TV (HDTV), and a PS2, and a Xbox1 hooked up to the TV (SDTV) in my gym, so bear that in mind in selecting titles.

Ok, here's the library (some duplicates because I'm a Capcom whore or I originally had one version at my house and one at my gf's)

I'd keep:

F-Zero
Halo 2
Viewtiful Joe
Oblivion
Alien Hominid
DMC3
GTA:SA
Shinobi
whichever RE 4 you prefer
SSBM
Dead Rising
Fight Night
Superman Returns
Metroid Prime
Rogue Squadron
Far Cry: Instincts
Halo 2
Jade Empire
Riddick
Ninja Gaiden Black
Otogi 2
Panzer Dragoon Orta
KOTOR
*insert fighting games*

That's 23 plus fighting games.  personally, I think those have the best replay value.

You need to just take a good look at everything and decide what you want to keep and what you'd be okay without.  We can't decide for you.  :)

I would DEFINITELY get rid of all the duplicate games you own across multiple platforms; you certainly don't need those.  I'd keep most of them on PS2, getting rid of the others unless they work on Xbox 360.  Also sequels...do you really care about Dynasty Warriors 4 when you have 5?  Who cares about DOA3 and Ultimate when you have DOA4?  You don't need those old Burnouts either.  Cut out that kind of stuff first and see what's left.

Holy shit, he has SuperMan Returns for the 360.  :o

Dude, you can definitely trim down that 360 library, and probably get some decent trade in credit while you're at it.  Like others have said though, we can't decide this stuff for you.  You have to make these decisions on your own.  Think to yourself what types of games you keep coming back to, and keep the ones that fit that criteria.

Also, at some point you might want to become a lot more selective about what games you buy.  It took me years, but i've finally gotten to a point where I simply will not buy a game if I know it's not a game i'm truly going to enjoy.  How on earth you ended up buying Superman Returns is beyond me, but you've got to be more selective to begin with.  That way you don't have to trim down your collection in the future.
