Multiplayer Castlevania makes me happy
« on: May 28, 2010, 12:32:44 PM »
I'm pretty new here so it's probably not known by many.
I'm a Castlevania fanboy.  I love the series and I've played every game in the series (besides judgment, but who counts that shit) and beaten all but one.

Posted this on my site (not linking b/c it might be seen as pimping and I'm not sure how those high up feel about shit like that)

There have been some rumors going around about a 2D Castlevania hitting the 360 that will allow up to 6 players.  Seems as if that rumor may have been confirmed by the Australian Classification Board.

GamerBytes reports that the Australian Classification Board rated Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, suggesting the game would be up to 6 players and would include many favorite characters from past Castlevania games.  Some of the characters rumored to be available to play are Soma Cruz (Aria & Dawn of Sorrow), Alucard (Dracula’s Curse & Symphony of the Night), Jonathan Morris (Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin) , Shanoa (Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia), and Charlotte Aulin (Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin).

Needless to say, I’m very excited.  Mulitplayer Castlevania and my favorite character in the series to be included (Alucard).

Rumor has it that the game will be released on XBLA and players will have to team up to take down bosses.  Sounds like Castlevania mixed with a little Monster Hunter to me.  SIGN ME UP!

This is a very different approach for Konami.  Seems like this may be an experiment of sorts to see if a) Multiplayer in Castlevania can work and b) if there is a demand for Castlevania on consoles.  I, for one, hope this succeeds.

You can bet that I’ll be spending quite a bit of time in Konami’s booth at E3 trying to get the lowdown on, not only this, but Lords of Shadow as well!

You guys ready to take down some big Castlevania baddies?  Dibs on Alucard!

Yeah I know the rumor is old, but the Australian Classification Board rating pretty much confirms it's coming.

Should have searched though... my bad.

Noted.

Not sure why MP Castlevania is such a big deal. MP Metroid was just UGH terribad.

If this is done the way they are talking about, and they put some effort behind it, it could be really fun.
It really does sound like a 2D Castlevania Monster Hunter Hybrid.

Reusing assets is a little annoying, but if they need to do that to keep the cost of the game down being that it's on XBLA, I'm fine with it.

Dont listen to that dweeb. Green Man ran away cause we outed him as a gay man. His website also sucked. No offense but I wont read yours either. I dont mind if you post it though, but chances are I've read it already in another thread, or on another site.

That's actually a fair point. Metroid Prime is intrinsically shitty, so it follows that the multiplayer would suck

Shino does a pretty nice gaming podcast that's gotten big enough to the point that they've had fan gatherings for it.  It's not a little blog site like Green Man had (has?).

http://interactivedistractions.com/

Not expecting too much from this latest Castlevania sprite re-hash, but I'll definitely check it out.  IGA's no longer involved, right?

Cool man... thanks.  Our latest episode actually had Mark Meer (Commander Shepard) on talking about voice acting.
Fucking cool ass dude.

Hey... some places will ban your ass for pimping without permission.
I know better than to pull that shit 2 days after I show up at a forum.

Of course... I should have known to search too. :lol

The thing that really has me interested in this game is if what they say is true, it really sounds like they are trying to take the Monster Hunter approach and that is really cool IMO.
