Short 360 games?
« on: June 01, 2010, 02:40:07 PM »
I finally signed up with gamefly, but it doesn't look like I'll be getting the two games that I really want (Blur and RDR) anytime soon. Even Just Cause 2 has low availability. :( Resonance of Fate is on the way, but I want a good short game to play when it starts to annoy me (inevitable with rpgs).

Anything that isn't a Sandbox/Racing/RPG is usually in the 5-10 hour range this gen.

Racing maybe. Sandbox and rpgs though? Bullshit.

I don't wanna play 2 rpgs at the same time. That never works out well.

I'm only 2-3 hours in right now, but it's sooooo good.

If you like Splinter Cell/MGS gameplay & Mass Effect rpg stuff you'd probably like it.

Fable 2? Haven't played the second one yet, but the first one was pretty easily digestible, had a bit of fun in it, and could be finished in about 10 hours. I'm assuming the sequel is much the same way.

eh, I dunnno man.  The first few hours have been incredible and I hear those are the weakest part of the game!

It's like MGS/Splinter Cell but you can cheat by using rpg skills and hack into all kinds of stuff.  So sweeeet.  Then the story branching and character relations is like Bioware wrpgs meets Heavy Rain plot branching.  zomg.

It's like this game was made for me!  A MGS/SC wrpg is probably the most interesting and fun rpg setting I could ever want.  Just like how people dig Mass Effect 2 because it's a TPS; but I prefer MGS/SC stealth genre to TPS genre.

Only negative I have is that the game is full of bugs/glitches.

It's in my queue. How long are the Bioshock games?

What are the other average action games? I already added Wet and Ninja Blade.

Bioshock 1 is less than 10 hours to beat, but IMO has aged terribly. Played it again recently and was repulsed.

Get Bionic Commando if you havent already played it. Not too long, and GOTY 2009 to boot.

Just a heads up for Gamefly tips.

If you want a new release you have to put it in your queue before it comes out. So if a game comes out Tuesday, you need to have an empty slot by the previous thursday. And leave your queue completely empty. Otherwise they might send you something else. I've never missed a game on release day when I've followed these steps.

When it comes to games that are already out its a crapshot. They might send you anything in your queue but they always tend to favor higher availability. So if you really really want a certain game, you may have to leave your queue empty for awhile (and suffer not getting anything for awhile) so they don't send you something lower in your queue. If you actually don't care about which game you get among the released, then you can just fill up your queue as you wish.

Bioshock games are both less than 10 hours.  I recently played through bioshock 1 again and I thought it was awesome.  I loved it again.  The 2nd one is pretty fucking awesome too.  And it has better gameplay but a much worse story.  Both are solid IMO and pretty short.

I got lucky. Blur is on its way. :D

I'll play the games mentioned in here eventually though. I'll be using gamefly for the summer at least.

Wanted was a good rental. The gun mechanics with the bullet curving was really cool. It can be beat in 3 or 4 hours.

Aren't most games really short?

I haven't played anything recent, but I finished these in <10 hours:

Tomb Raider Underworld
Brutal Legend
CSI: Hard Evidence
Kane and Lynch
Condemned
King Kong
Beautiful Katamari
Rainbow Six Vegas
Kameo
Bioshock
Lost Planet

LOL. King Kong is the easiest 1K achievement points I've seen in a game.

Yeah like Koopler said, Tomb Raider: Underworld is cool if you like puzzle platforming and can overlook a crappy camera... not to mention it's about 10 or so hours too.

Weird. I just got Blur in the mail, but Resonance of Fate hasn't arrived yet. It got sent out a day before.
