In before A Slime Appears appears. +1 victory!

Also, apparently the DJ Hero team made their  Save VS Death roll, despite the -5 Kotick Acid modifier.

A couple of mates of mine bought this for xbox and both their controllers are broken now. I've heard about others who've had them break too.

I liked the game and if I'm going to point out a flaw, it would be that it was very bare bones, but if the hardware is shoddy I'm gonna have a hard time getting hyped.

I am a huge music game nerd, and even I passed on this game. It's distinguished mentally-challenged. Some people may disagree, but at least RB/GH simulates playing a real instrument. Yes, I know, buttons instead of strings, right. But where the fuck are the BUTTONS on a real turntable?

I cannot dig it.  >:(

But I can dig this:

I guess the best music games ever Parappa and Frequency are distinguished mentally-challenged because they don't simulate closely to anything real.  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

The point of DJ Hero is not to simulate DJ-ing, but to provide a fun game based around DJ-ing.  ::) ::) ::)

Methodis again fails to comprehend the point prior to criticizing others' observations. And fails to understand the game.

It's fun to play Rock Band or GH because it's legitimizing our own air guitar tendencies. Hell, it grades them. The games you listed are music games, and they're fun, but they're played with standard controllers and do not have the intent of simulating instrument play, which DJ Hero does.

I'll be curious to see what happens to Scratch DJ now. I want it out, I want it to not suck, and I want it to have a controller that doesn't bring the whole price up to 120 bones, and won't break. And I want a pony.

I never really looked at DJ Hero as simulating DJ play, but I still don't see how it's any different than the guitar part of RB / GH. Scratching on the fake pad is about as "lifelike" as hitting buttons on a plastic stirp is to plucking / picking strings.

Agreed on all points, except I don't really have any need for a pony.

I'm not saying there can't ever be a good DJ game for @ home... but DJ Hero is not it. Blow me, Methodis.

So how did you get "I've never played DJ Hero" from that statement? I've played it, I just didn't get suckered into buying it.

You've at least must acknowledge the intent of the controller is to emulate the experience of using the professional instrument. The drums and microphone are going to be more representative of the actual experience than "button presses" equaling fingering chords, but it's clearly the goal.

I picked up the Collectors Edition off of Amazon for $67 shipped a couple of weeks ago.  The package as a whole is awesome.  Two CDs (haven't listened to the Eminem one yet but the Jay Z one is a solid greatest hits album) and the case.  The case is a lot sturdier than I anticipated, and even has a traditional metal snap-down handle.  When the legs are assembled it is sturdy too.

The controller only has cosmetic differences fro the other one.

The game, I can see why Corny doesn't like it but I enjoyed it enough to justify the purchase.  I wonder if it's similar but this game makes me feel like a DJ way more than Rock Band made me feel like a guitar player.  Perhaps it's because I know how to play guitar and can feel the disconnect in the controller but I don't really think it's any more accurate an experience.  I've never operated a turntable but I would imagine the track switching and scratching are fairly accurate, obviously the mixing of two platters at different speeds is not recreated.

But there are a ton of things going on while playing guitar that aren't emulated in Rock Band/Guitar Hero also.

The music is pretty sweet (for the most part) and it's something that I can't get outside the package (until the mp3/youtubes are ripped.)

Looking forward to the second game.

You asked me, me of all fucking people, if I had ever seen a turntable! Do you have any idea what kind of music I listen to? (Obv. not, because you certainly wouldn't ask me that if you did).

If you can show me a turntable with buttons on the platter, then I'll eat my virtua hat.

Look man. As I said before, I love rhythm games. I have a fucking Pop N' Music controller imported from Japan for the DC. I've played Para Para Paradise in the arcade with a weeaboo dancing behind me. I just don't think DJ Hero is a good game at all. Maybe Scratch DJ will be.

Hey, it's fine to think that you're the shit but it's a bit presumptuous to think that a stranger on the internet was given the 411 on the type of music that you like. How about you preface that next time before you go all internet nerd warrior on me.

I... christ, man, I really hate the fucking internet sometimes. I never said I was the shit. I hardly post here and when I do, it's usually to talk about some form of hip-hop / electronica / shit that would be rocked by a DJ. I thought perhaps you might have noticed.

In fact thanks to this thread I found out you're really into music games and that's awesome. I mean I know other people on Evilbore liked rhythm games but it's nice to meet another person who's really into it like you are. Like that video you linked in the thread, that shit is awesome. Unfortunately I never got to try out Crackin' DJ but I'd die to play something as awesome as that is.

We like the same stuff, let's not hate. :-*

The only thing I'm hating on is DJ Hero. And maybe Methodis. We can totally co-exist peacefully, my nephew.

DJ Hero with kit was worth the $50 to me. I had a good time with it, and the music is pretty decent.

Won't buy the sequel day one, but will probably grab it after it tanks a bit.
