Gamefly alternatives
« on: June 10, 2010, 12:20:11 PM »
(pardon me if this has been discussed to death; i tried to use the search feature, but surprise, it blows goats)

I've had enough of Gamefly. I do think their used game prices are pretty good, and $5 off every couple of months is nice... but the actual part of their business where they ship games to you sucks a big dick. And their customer service just doesn't give a fuck at all.

Soooo... where else can I rent games online? DS games especially.

Gamerang >>> Gamefly

Although I'm not sure how good their DS selection is.

My gamefly service is great but it also helps that I live in the same town as a shipping center I suppose.

I live in San Diego, right by their Los Angeles processing center.... and the time it takes me to get a game varies from one to ten days. That's fucking ridiculous. I used to get my games the day after they sent them. Fistful, you and methodis can both blow me, simultaneously.

Gamerang costs a lot more than gamefly...

Seems same price to me, $17.95 a month for one game at a time.

My bad; after looking online, it's $15.95/month at GF, $17.95 at GR.

Fistfulofcock, perhaps you could explain why GF didn't ship the next game in my queue for over 48 hours when they had received my game AND the next game in my queue was "available now"? Is that the postal services' fault, too?

Yeah this. I dunno why you don't just get a flash card. Not much more damaging to the industry than renting

Yeah I'm not really sure what there is to argue here so I'm not really sure why people are getting heated. If they've had a bad experience with Gamefly then hey, try a different service. Perhaps they will have better luck with that one.

I've had a good experience with them. But everybody is different.

So I should support a flash card maker, but not the people making games. Got it.  :pirate

I buy the games I like.

If they've had a bad experience with Gamefly then hey, try a different service.

The title of this thread is "gamefly alternatives", because I wanted to know if there are some... Gamefly alternatives. Glad to hear that you and fistful have had beautiful experiences with GF, but I haven't. And I've given them money for like four years now.

If it isn't clear that was my entire point of my post. Hey this is America. If you have bad service with something try something else.

what's stopping you from buying the games you like from playing on your flash?

Are there even that many good DS games?  You could have bought a bunch of DS games with the money spent on GF.

If you have bad service with something try something else.

And that's why I made the thread, so that I could get opinions on the "something else" out there!

what's stopping you from buying the games you like from playing on your flash?

Breathtaking laziness.

I also rent 360 games and Wii games but mostly DS ones. Yes there's good ones. Stop trolling.  >:(

I wasn't trolling.  I was thinking there was maybe 15-20 must-owns for the DS, which cost less than a 5 yr membership.  But yeah, if you're getting games for other systems as well, then I could see why.

Doesn't Gamestop still allow returns for used games?  Since Gamestop shops are everywhere, why not use them as a rental service?

They put a stop to that little loophole ages ago.

Gamerang was awesome on the East Coast. Game flay had like 7-10 day turnaround, Gamerang had like a 2-3.
