This game is a serious contender to even the almighty Gears Of War, IMO.

Some of the GIGANTIC monsters you encounter absolutely dwarf anything in Gears. And while the Akrid are just different types of bugs, there's the space pirates to deal with as well. The mech suits (VS) you can use are also nice. It's just coming off as an extremely well-polished game in pretty much every way, much like Gears does. I'm getting a Resident Evil 4 (my favorite game from 2005) vibe from this title after just a bit of play time. It's THAT good.

Even the short intro stage, which seemed kind of "ho-hum" for the first few minutes, quickly got OMG HOLY SHIT awesome when the

monstrous green-eyed monster appeared, running after me, going through and destroying I ran around to get to me.

although i love gears to death, this might be the game that dethrones gears as my 360 shooter. call me old school or arcadey, but i just love the style of this game. multiplayer demo was surprisingly fun as well. glad to hear you like it... there must be a reason it got four 9s in famitsu.

I lOVED the demos so this is good to hear. Also they will have a patch out for the english release to fix some stuff like the small text.

I played the demo at Best Buy. It was alright.

Also, the framerate sucked. What is it with all of these 360 games having shitty framerates

you're dumb. the game runs at a rocksolid 30 fps -- definitely smoother than, say, Motorstorm.

Yeah, framerate is not an issue in this game. What did you play Diablos...the E3 demo from back in May?

They weren't atrocious, so that's not a problem.

But you can choose from three different types of aiming control set-ups, plus sensitvity speed for each. It shouldn't be a problem for anyone.

This is the game that sold me on real next-gen.

I've long expected it to be better than Gears. Now a Gears addict, I still have that hope.

To me the best thing about Gears is the co-op play. Lost Planet doesn't have this, but it is clearly going to be a longer game, and the single player experience is better. I have yet to try multiplayer, save for like one or two matches in the MP demo. Also looking forward to jumping into that too.

Sat down and finished the game on normal difficulty tonight. It was awesome all the way through (11 stages total), and I KNOW it took me longer to beat than what the clock listed...I'd say it must have been around 10 hours total (counting all the retries) if not more. The last stage was incredibly short and the boss was pretty easy compared to the rest, but it was still insanely cool. I also literally flew through the last level and missed all the regular enemies to get right to the boss. Still have to collect the medals hidden on the stages, too.

Now it's time to concentrate on multiplayer. In ranked play, you gain levels, and at around 30 or 40, you start to unlock new skins and stuff to use. I definitely enjoyed this more than Gears, despite the cheesy storyline and lack on co-op.

Oh, and the last level is different than the rest...think Zone Of The Enders.
