Why is Gen Y so infatuated with itself?
« on: June 11, 2010, 07:22:06 PM »
Is it run off from our self-absorbed baby boomer parents?
Is it the prevalence of 'social technology'?
Is it the realization that we are but many of nameless faces around the world so we feel the need for differentiation?

I was I was born in the silent generation. :'(

I think culling all the people who refer to themselves as "Gen Y" would help diminish a good portion of the self-absorbed.

But like anything, I'll blame the boomers.

Don't let them project their bullshit on to our generation!

Quote from: Wiki
As there are no precise dates for when the Millennial generation starts and ends, commentators have used birth dates ranging somewhere from the early 1980s to the early 2000s.

So the people who came up with "Gen Y" actually think people who were born in the early 80s, like myself, have anything in common with people born in the 90s and early 00s? Bullshit, that's a huge age range!

Yup, totally.

Also, on topic- it has a lot to do with the parents, who blew smoke up their kids' asses and told them how wonderful they were and how they could grow up to be whatever they wanted.  GUESS WHAT?  NO YOU FUCKING CAN'T!

Seriously like the best post drew has ever made.

All this hand-wringing about social bullshit is driving me mad. I hear it from everyone. How does it matter, really?

Young people will always find themselves to be the most important and relevant thing in the world. The generation that just barely got over that feeling will look on in projected embarrassment.

yup. Today's youth have more ways of expressing their egos though, so it's probably the worst generation yet .
