People still do it on the East Coast, I remember my father had to cut down his to a certain point (a certain percentage can be tinted). It looked horrible. Isn't it ok in California?

I dunno where they were pulled over but here in California it's illegal to have aftermarket tinting on the front windows. They probably would have gotten away with it if the Governator could come up with a better way to mend the state's financial woes than more stringent enforcement of petty traffic violations

not likely. most of the quick looks are from games they literally go to the store and buy. a bunch are from games they know nothing about. they just grab it and pop it into the console for the first time and hit record.


when it comes to how they are making money. i think it has to do with the rise of Whiskey Media. it's a fairly young company that's trying to create an empire of websites. i wouldn't be surprised if that company go bankrupt eventually. Giantbomb is just riding the wave of their early success.

They sort of anticipated correctly where a lot of people are as gamers as we've gotten older. When I go to a game site I want to see videos, be entertained. And not be treated like I'm an idiot and the people writing this shit are god's gift to gaming.

Sites like IGN are useless for me. That's the old model and its completely irrelevant to me.

That's a good question. I remember seeing ads for Tropico 3 and ads for Bioshock 2 before a video played but since then, I haven't seen any ad whatsoever. In fact, none of the Whiskey media sites seem to have ads anywhere on them. Perhaps companies pay them to do quick looks and such?

They don't get payed to do quicklooks. Instead Whiskey Media operates by selling their site metrics to marketers. Even their occasional real ads are done moreso as "case studies" than for the added revenue. Its really hard to explain since its under the realm of selling information but you can get a better idea by looking at their advertisers page: http://www.whiskeymedia.com/advertise.shtml

Basically they sell information to companies so that they can better advertise to those consumers.
