I'm gonna have to pass if they're all 1200 spacepoints each.  Maybe jump on Castlevania if some other Boritos grab it too.

I will get Castlevania and probably Limbo if it's good.

Bah, I won't pay 1200 Spacebucks for single-player games. They all go on sale eventually. I'll jump on the co-op and multiplayer stuff, though.

Curious about Limbo. I think it looks cool but might be just an artsy gimmick game.
Hydro Thunder Hurricane. I'll wait for a sale one day on Hydro Thunder.
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. Very curious about this one although I'm scared it seems like a gimmick game.
Monday Night Combat. Very interested in MNC. Will try out the demo and see some reviews.
Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light. This looks darn cool but I'll wait for some reviews.

Castlevania IS a gimmick game. They arent trying to fool you. They've said "you do boss rushes, you grindan levels and you grindan equipment. And you can do it with your friends."

Just Hydro Thunder on XBLA

Will get Lara Croft on PC since Lara Croft = always superior on the PC platform since TR1.
Limbo will eventually try it after I get through the hundreds of other awesome artsy indie platformers out there.

I mean more like how long will it last me and is the level up mechanic stuff actually fun.

thats why you have to buy it straight away, and get 200/200 while people are playing the game :punch

Im just hoping it does well, so Konami does a full fledged IGAvania for XBLA. Shit, even if they ported one of the DS games I'd be happy.

They should have put Guwange in there to save this sorry lineup 8)

Haha, yeah Im pretty sure using the "Summer of Arcade" title is some type of justification to bump the price of all the games up to 1200. Last year only Splosion Man was 800pts in the summer of arcade lineup, oh, Turtles Reshelled "was" going to be 1200 points, but then they "reduced" the price to 800, as some other sick marketing initiative. Apparently the game was a stinker and not even worth 400!

I was getting Castlevania anyway

Diablo Croft?

Honestly I just think its the perspective that encourages people to say that. 30 weapons isn't exactly Diablo. The more appropriate comparison looks to be Ikari Warriors or any other dual analog shooter mixed in with some light platforming.

Basically one thing Ive learned about these artsy indie platformers is they are really good bait for gushing "games are art" reviews.

Still, Limbo's graphical style is pretty awesome IMO, so I'll definitely give the trial a whirl.

I think Braid was a good and creative gimmick wrapped in a very pretentious wrapper. I have no problem liking "artsy" games. The only thing annoying about artsy games is the people who fall in love with them and won't shut up about them. For example I felt the same way about portal.

I couldn't get past the spider. Also: creepy game is filled with creeping sense of dread. It's effective, but I was hoping more for "veiled menace" than "repeated goring of a clearly young child."

Destination Arcade has the artistic and UI design sense of an intern project that was greenlit for general distribution as a pat on the head. It's really ugly, and doesn't even follow common 360 control practices. :yuck

The dragon prop unlocks possibly randomly. Mine was in a game in the "G" category, not MtG. But I'll keep my Deathspank avatar dragon prop instead. He's fat.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I noticed the bear trap, assumed I would lead the spider to it. I begrudgingly approached the spider, hopped around, finally stopped. It targeted me, I moved, it slammed into the ground. I tried luring it out. I tried running past it (that was gross). Could not get it to follow me to the bear trap. If it fell, I can solve the problem... AS SOON AS MY 360 COMES BACK FROM FUCKING REPAIR.

I didn't feel much in the way of dread. I thought it was kind of dull. I'd like to see what kind of puzzles come later in the game, because the demo was full of empty space punctuated with easy 2 second events.

Destination Arcade seems to be shit.

If I had points, I'd probably get Limbo.  I need some for Harmony of Despair, Shank, and Scott Pilgrim.

also, since when did the cost for downloadable games become $15? I remember most of them being $10 but recently everything is $15.  I remember people complaining about that Penny Arcade rpg being more expensive in the past (or was that $20), but now it seems to be the standard.

I like it. My first impression was a bit negative. That here was a game that was just another artsy bit of fluff that was over-rated. But once you start to get going on it, its a pretty solid little environmental puzzler platformer. I like it more than Braid because this is a more solid and less experimental concept and its pretty easy to pick up and play. It's very simple but that's a good thing. Certainly the art and aesthetic help out my enjoyment but it seems to be a solid title so far.

Most games are now $15. The cheap ones are $10. That's the new pricing standard. Honestly I'm fine with that. As long as the game is good I don't mind spending $15 dollars. And XBLA games in general are much better than when the service originally started so I don't mind the bump in price.

Limbo is enjoyable although it's honestly only about 3 or 4 hours so if your enjoyment is based on time its gonna be a quick 15 bucks.

I'm about halfway through it and I'm enjoying myself. Only been stuck so far at one part for about 10 or 15 minutes but when I figured out the solution I felt it was clever and well deserved. Much easier than Braid by comparison which I got stuck on fairly early and never came back to.

It's very possible to beat the game in one sitting. I could have beat it this evening but I took a break and I'll finish it tomorrow evening.

As far as dying, it's not really about the dying. The dying is just sort of the penalty for not beating a puzzle. So sometimes you die the first time you come across something because you weren't sure what to expect but you easily bypass it on the second go around.

There are definitely a few puzzles where once you do them you feel good about yourself although most of the game is relatively easy. I've been stuck twice at two different places so far. The first I mentioned earlier. I stopped tonight on a puzzle that I couldn't figure out. The good thing is that none of the puzzles are bullshit. They are all pretty logical and feasible. Sometimes these games can get quite cheap but that hasn't been the case at all here.

I really like it despite it being short. The best comparison I suppose would be braid and portal. Both of those were very short also. I like this better than both of those. Mainly because of the aesthetic and the art and story. It's just kinda a cool game to play. It's not the best game of the year or anything but it feels different than the usual fare. Has a Ico vibe mixed with that sort of cinematic platformer type gameplay of Another world which you don't get very often in modern gaming.
