It's almost impossible to have an intelligent discussion on OA. I go there to have fun every now and then, but overall it's a joke.

That's opposite of here, where this place needs more posters, and more personality. Outside a few posters (Who, surprisingly are also at OA, and for a couple WERE at OA), there isn't any personality.

We accepted a record low posters yesterday, but our traffic the past week has been consistent. Yesterday's traffic was second only to our first day on the Internet when we got plugged at OA. I've been happy with the traffic, and we'll look into adding quality posters. And we're willing to take suggestions.

Having the board open for view to guests seems like a way to get traffic. If I want to sign up for a board, I like to look around first and check things out.

But on the flipside, that would be a bad idea considering our relationship with GAF; mods could just access the boards at will and find out who was saying what. It would suck to be banned from GAF for things you said here.

PM people on GAF who you think would be interested in EB. We can do the same on OA, although I might just advertise there with a thread; what are they going to do, ban me?

That Count Chocula thread was locked because of the "No GAF whining" rule but absolutely no one was whining about GAF. A poster/thread from GAF was part of the discussion but not GAF.

People here are from GAF and OT, it's inevitable that subjects from either forum will pop up. It seems kind of smothering to lock every single thread that dares to mention GAF.

The subject was the guy flipping out, not how much GAF sucks. Not a single person piped up and said, "Yeah, that guy rules! GAF blows!" It wasn't anti-GAFism in the least. I really don't understand how discussing someone flipping out at NeoGAF is somehow representative of Anti-GAFism here. It really isn't.

In any case, you said suggestions were welcome and I gave one. You were way too eager with the lock on that one. I thought that was something that needed to be said.

Personally, and completely outside of the advice I would give Willco...(well maybe) I dont think we should take suggestions. Its clear we have our own idea of how the forum should be run in mind. Power should be centralized and absolute. This works as long as the mods are hands-off, which they are.

The threads locked today include:

Matlock stalking Cloudwalking, thats honestly a fair lock. It became a thread of memes.

Vagabond and Willco discuss forum policy and the interpretation of, honestly can be handled out of band, willco wanting to take it there was really his choice. The conversation at that point really only involved him and vagabond.

Lemurs topics I wasnt around for, but *shrug*. Honestly bad threads tend to die out, but I tend to side with admin when threads that just support bad feelings are allowed to continue and grow.

The people of this forum are personalities, but also want drama. They want to talk about rights and all that jazz, but honestly we've given a lot of lenience, in fact its so lenient here all that stands between us and becoming Opa Age are the choices the administration makes. I have banned, what, 2 people? One was White Futami. The point is I have been verbally assaulted to no end, the boundries of what can be posted are intentionally shoved around, but I do not ban, because ultimately that's not what I am here to do. That is a trait I SHARE with all the moderators of this forum, and I really wish people would recognize that instead of trying to make this place a utopia, because it never will be.

I support commenting on the quality of the forum, I support commenting on the forum features, I do not however support the idea that everyone's idea of a perfect forum will be found here.

As in real life, you will either deal or you won't. This forum, in my mind however, is the hard work of two people. Even as moderator, ultimately would not question where they decide to go with it.

In the event Willco WANTS to listen to you guys more, I will conceeed, cause this is ultimately his baby, but until then....

I gingerly concur. Some old GAF bullshit is pretty evident/prevalent here. Honestly, this and GAF are the only sites where when mods get their feelings hurt they try to bully posters by giving them demeaning tags and what not. I really don't see any of the sort at the other forums I've been to. It's pretty GAF/EB exclusive. It's lame, immature nerd heirarchy bullshit.

Other than that, and the lackluster forum software this place is okay. But it could be easily beaten by OA if they decided to clean that place up a little bit.

In fact, he's pretty clearly indicating that he's decoupling the two -- that MAF the poster and MAF the mod operate on two different sets of priorities. Fuck, if I had been in his shoes, I woulda sent TBS and his tiresome schtick up the fuckin' river a week ago.

GAF DOES have a problem with mod cultism -- the Amir0x, bishoptl, and sp0rsks dicksucking is out of control. Squealing for tags is the fault of the posters, though; we sure as fuck haven't encouraged it.
