So I'm talking to some folks from gaf on irc and we discuss how far back Nintendo plans stuff and always has something going on in planning and why they're so damn hard to predict.

Nintendo actually planned the use of mii's way back in the nes days:

What's more, remember Kirby: Epic Yarn from E3? Here's a Japanese ad for a Kirby game back in the fucking 90's

Look familiar? It's like they've wanted to do a Kirby like that for years but couldn't due to technological constraints. Probably why Kirby GC didn't pan out.

And I recall Iwata saying that had been planning for 3d technology for at least 10 years.

I know this extends beyond Nintendo. I find stuff like this amazing due to the years of planning it takes before it to take off.

I don't know where else to put this, so I'll put it here: Phantom Dust should've been a kajillion seller and we should all be sick of all the sequels that have come out for it.

But no, instead we get Dudebro FPS 9/11 GUNBATTLERS
