..What the fuck?

Why are grown men hyped for this? It looks like your typical platformer?  Even that Warren dude looks like he was faking his interest in his own game. Somebody please explain the hype? The concept art was AMAZING, all that gothic cyborg take on disney material, and the end product is .. a generic platformer.

Gayest, kiddiest, most borderline innapropriate game for grown ass people to be hyped for. But watch be nothing but a bunch of grown ass Wii cigarillos buying it, show it to a kid though and he will tell you

"Mickey? Mickey sucks man."

It's supposed to have a lot of adventure game and choice/consequence elements.  There is more to it than just the platforming, even if some videos make it seem like a bog standard platformer.  I'd liken it to looking at Psychonauts and trashing it for being a generic platformer.  Something like that.

There is certainly reason to look forward to it.  It's not like that Goldeneye Wii game where the excitement for it is baffling.

Looks like a cross between the 16 bit Disney platformers and a 3d adventure game. Both of which I like. Plus, I am kind of interested in seeing all the rejected cartoon characters.

If it was another Jak and Daxter would I be interested? Probably not, but that is because those games have always lacked real personality or character. An adventure game that doesn't create a world that draws you in fails at one of the basic needs the genre has. Epic Mickey is interesting as a world. The only question is how well they pull off the world concept.

This footage is not helping your case. This looks like a horrible platformer based on that footage and what's more, the waggle doesn't look remotely fun. Did I see Mickey get hassled by three enemies around him and manage to kill one? The player sucks, sure, but it does not look fun at all.

The game game looks neat and it doesn't have the disgusting weaboo tripe from Kingdom Hearts. Pretty simple to understand.

I don't get it either.

Kingdom Heart's is a poor man's action platformer. That shit is horrendous and embarrassing.

Kingdom Hearts is hardly an action platformer. It's an action rpg and I can't think of too many 3d action rpgs that go for the Secret of Mana game style that are nearly as fun. KH3 needs multiplayer so people can get their Secret of Mana on.

I thought the sidescrolling part looked just as weak compared to other platformers.  Honestly, it reminded me of Toy Story on the SNES.  That really loose and floatly jank to it.

But in one of the videos they talk about how even those levels have two paths so you can breeze right through them to get to the next adventure bit, or do a harder, more platformer section to get more collectibles.  All that platforming stuff doesn't sound too good and they mention a lot of collectibles.  But what I think sounds interesting has little to do with the actual platforming and as long as they don't put too much focus on it, I'll be content.  To make another comparison to Psychonauts, the thing people complain about in that game is the meat circus level that is all about platforming and that wasn't the appeal of that game.

I like how it's painfully obvious how much the game relies on exploration and keeping it fun to experiment with the "painting", and yet everybody wants to dismiss the 3D levels after seeing a five minute demo.  The actual ideas sound good to me and Specter seems like he has too much enthusiasm/pride to half-ass it.

that level in manabyte's video did seem to be pretty boring and bland, but the one that specter demoed during the conference actually looked pretty decent.  I think I remember him saying that the game world gradually get prettier as you do more faggy disney stuff so those two demos could be from different points in the game.

iirc the PSX mickey sidescroller had the same 'floaty jank' similar to the 'floaty jank' of Rayman too, both good and great platformers. Floaty jumpin aint bad, not every platformer needs to be Megaman or Mario like.

But I'm not only talking about the platforming. The whole game looks dull and boring on the Wii. The devs could do better with Ps360 hardware.

The dull and boring is a design choice however, you are speaking as if birghter environments cost more horsepower which clearly it doesnt going by the Super Mario Galaxy games, heck you can even tell by the original Super Mario 64.  And i dont think that the platforming would look better either.

How on earth would the platforming be improved on the ps360?

The SMG games consist out of tiny levels surrounded by a lot of empty space. It's not a miracle that both SMG games look that good.
The Wii was already b.c. technology during its release. And its dated tech is definitely holding a lot of developers back.

Epic Mickey on Ps360 would be really Epic. On Wii it's just another failed 3rd party game. Sorry.

What are you talking about, ntard? When I said that the game looked dull and boring, I didn't mean that it didn't have any colors.
Most current gen games (PS360 games) are brownish but still are entertaining and better than 99.99% of the Wii games.

More colors =! more fun or better graphics? That maybe works for your nintendo brain. Remember the art designs? Ps360 could approach that atmosphere. The Wii just can't. lol. And that's a shame. The gameplay would probably be the same on the PS360, but the massively improved graphics would add a whole new dimension to the game.
