Poor ps3 cows

On more serious note, not sure why are some PC nerds are jumping around...being better than 5+ years old consoles is not some great achievement.Anyway, didn't play the demo, will play full game, watched few videos aaand...
I want bullet time, dead eye,etc system in GTA like games,in addition to normal third person cover system.Upgradable of course,by shooting people and mission progression.

It looks fine-ish on consoles judging from screenshots.  I honestly don't get the importance of that mirror gif other than finding something that looks really ugly; I don't know how often you'll be worrying about that stuff.  I think it was Max Payne 2 that also had garbage mirrors on the xbox.  Unless the game is fundamentally broken in some way, I don't understand the big problem here.  And the PC version praise has less to do with it better than consoles and more about how well it runs on older/weaker hardware.  Pretty much every game looks and runs loads better on PC but they aren't brought up that much.  It's usually games like this and Just Cause 2 that are well optimized and all that.

You just don't get it. This isn't a GTA or a SA game. This is a simulator like Flight Sim.

The cars kind of handle in a "simmy" manner. Which is fine for me since I like that and I liked the handling in GTA 4 to pick a random example. But the cars certainly don't handle like Saints Row or anything if that is what somebody is looking for.

Man, I'm so looking forward to playing the hell outta dis game here....

in about a couple of years when I get a new PC.  Just like Mafia 1, the PC version is going to waaaaaaay outclass the console revs.  The PS3 has a janky framerate and just doesn't feel optimized.  The world appears to be ludicriously detailed though, so I'm in for that.

What are your current specs? 'cause you don't need a monster rig to run this game.

I find it slightly odd that everyone is railing on the mirror thing.  Is that really a big deal?  It's still lower resolution on the PC, just not that low.

That's hardly the problem with the console versions of this game at all.  It's the fact that it runs like dogshit and looks significantly worse as well.  The console ports are terrible all around.  Same situation with the original Mafia.  These guys don't know consoles.

Can't wait for this game, though.  Demo was fantastic!  Runs perfectly on my PC as well.

The 360 demo was alright. Probably the best thing was how vibrant the game is. The art style is great and is a joy to look at, assuming you don't look off into the distance. Anything beyond like ten feet looks like blurry shit, much like GTA4 on PS3. The game almost seems over ambitious on consoles but I think they could have done marginally better.
The actual color scheme reminds me a lot of Half-Life 2, to be honest.  Especially when looking out over the water.

does Mafia II have the longest development cycle of any game released so far this gen?  I know Alan Wake was in the cooker for infinity and a half, but I don't know of any other project the studio has tackled since, well, Mafia 1.

Actually I was mocking Triple A but then I don't have the same hard on against GTA 4 that you did. Technically its a bit of a mess on the consoles either way not that I overly care outside of the frame rate.

Thank me later.

As I said sub hd resolution never bothers me. Only bothers graphic nerds. A tribe I happily avoid or mock.

"Graphics nerds", I like that excuse.

I have a PC more than capable of playing all these games at hd resolutions. I know your puny brain can't comprehend this but not all of us give a shit about nerd shit like you do or agenda post constantly.

st0wned!

TripleA, what part of "Graphics does not equal gameplay" are you having a hard time fathoming? At what point does "3-to-4 year-old standardized hardware is going to be inherently inferior to current gaming PCs" come as a surprise? Why are you surprised that it's nerdy to arbitrarily worry about graphics?

Here's the real question for me though: "Why the hell did I ever take you off Ignore?"

RDR is filling that need so well, I'm not playing much of the new games I bought on vaykay.  :-\

I don't even know if I'd play this Mafia II demo if it worked for me. I just am pissed at XBL being flaky, and hoping it's not an erroneous message caused by IP region lockout.

Hey guys,

When designing Mafia II, we optimized for each of the three different systems the game would run on to make sure the core experience was the best it could be. Because of this, there are some differences from one platform to the next. In terms of the PS3 version, I wanted to clarify a couple points you have been asking about: There will not be highly detailed grass or large pools of blood, the cloth movement is less noticeable than, for example, the PC version, and the visual fidelity in the demo is generally representative of what you’ll see in the full game.

Our aim is to make a cohesive and immersive experience and optimize the game for each platform so that it could run its best. And while there are some differences between each version, I’m sure you’ll find that the core gameplay and the heart of Mafia II remains no matter whether you play on PS3, 360, or PC.

Thanks for your patience while I checked with the dev team on the specific issues you were asking about, and I hope you see you in Empire Bay next week.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have follow up questions for me, you can ask them here. Insults, spam, and other off-topic behavior will result in you being banned, so let's all play nice.
