Gotta see the games first.  Nintendo is usually conservative when listing their specs whereas Sony always exaggerates greatly.
Indeed they do, but the PSP was extremely powerful for a handheld released in 2004, you have to admit.  There haven't been any other mobile platforms that could match the best on the PSP.

Just can't let slide the slightest comment that can be taken as criticism of Sony, can you?  You just have to paint a rosy picture for the Sony Empire.   :violin

Anyways, yes, the PSP's graphical hardware has always been solid for a portable system although it never reached the PS2 level that Sony promised.   Any complaints I had about the PSP were due more to its uncomfortable form factor and slow LCD rather than its processing power.

As far as whether any mobile platform can match the PSP graphically, I'd say that the Zune HD has a pretty good chance of accomplishing that.  PGR on the Zune HD looks better than the PSP racers I've tried.  Of course, it plays like crap with the motion controls so it doesn't really matter to me as a gamer whether the Zune HD is more powerful or not.

This thread is bullshit. Official specs haven't been revealed.

We don't need specs, just look at the screens. Specs don't even tell the whole story. The debates surrounding ps360 is an excellent example. The power of CELL! No, it's too difficult too program for! bla bla bla. Now ps3 and x360 games look exactly alike. :lol

You must have different consoles than I, because as both a Ps3 and 360 gamer I can tell you without a single doubt that only multi-platform games look alike/have less jaggies on 360.

The exclusive stuff is literally night and day.

And how's that relevant to the discussion?  Can't prove shit about which system is more powerful when it's not the same games or the same people working on both systems.  Besides, there aren't many PS3 exclusives that most gamers give a damn about.

The only thing I'd wish for is more AA but there's absolutely no point in going above gamecube level graphics.  There's a reason why console games cost twice as much as handheld games.

What reason is that?

Assets cost more apparently.

It's definitely uncomfortable, I agree.  The LCD was fixed in the PSP3000, though.  MUCH better contrast ratio, much faster response time, and richer colors.  It's still an LCD, but it's a definite improvement over the earlier models.

I keep hearing contradictory feedback about the 3000's screen though.  Some seem to have no problems with it like you whereas others are really bothered by the interlacing artifacts.

The 2000 works well enough for me that I'd rather Sony fix everything before getting another one.  Do you know if the 2000 has a better screen than the 1000?  I think the 2000 blurs less than my original phat but I'm not sure.

2000 screen is functionally identical to the 1000. The 3000 screen is great, and the "interlacing" artifact is functionally trivial. obviously, the "4000" (aka the pspgo) has the nominal best screen.

The 3000 screen is awesome.  Looks like the 1000 but fantastic refresh rate and no ghosting or color bleeding.

The interlacing stuff is slightly noticable on 2d stuff.  It looks exactly what a PS3 playing a 2d PS2 game looks like except because the screen is so small it's ess noticable.  Still, there aren't many 2d games on the psp anymore so for me personally it's fairly trivial.  Any pure 2d stuff I'll play on my 1000 if I think it looks bad on the 3000.

now that the 3DS is on par and a bit better PSP graphics vise, it will be even more irrelevant.

yeah, the PSP Go screen is great.  Games look much smaller on it and I'm sure part of it is because it has a smaller screen.  There are a couple things I like about the Go hardware and if there was a way for me to play my collection of UMD games, I might have picked one up.  I think they're at a point where they are offering a bunch of games hoping people would buy it.

and despite the slight interlacing-like issue on the 3000, it is still preferable to the 1000 or 2000.  I think ghosting is one of those things that makes playing games feel worse while the interlacing is just an annoyance on the screen.  btw, I don't think the 1000 and 2000 are exactly the same.  At least my 1000 is a lot worse than my 2000.
