Federer's problems don't seem to be age related yet. Maybe he's just distracted from having a family? Many tennis stars deteriorate rapidly after starting a family. I thought Federer was above that but I guess it'd be hard not to lose some drive after finally getting the all-time record and that elusive French Open title.

The odds are heavily against him. His knees have already started to go on him a bit. If he wins this, he'd need to win 2 grand slams a year for the next 4 years to catch him. I just don't think he's strong enough on hard courts for that to happen. But I guess he'd just need to win one of the three GS that are not French Open each year, and when you look at it that way...

The knees though...his style of play is just brutal. And Federer could have a few more GS wins in him.

I remember when Tiger Woods breaking Jack Nicklaus' major record looked like a foregone conclusion. Look what happened to that.

I agreed that Nadal's style is probably too physically demanding for him to equal or pass Federer. The main thing going for Nadal is that outside of Federer, there really hasn't been a player who's going to consistently challenge him for those titles.
