Tour de France 2010
« on: June 23, 2010, 11:42:21 PM »
This is the real euro-cigarillo sport :punch
Why should you care?
Because I care.
Who will win?
Contador.
Who's the sexiest?
Depends. Cycling is the only sport where professional men look like women and professional women look like men except for Liz Hatch and Victoria Pembelton. I'd say Thor Hushovd.
Fresh Prince, you're sport sounds interesting. I want to learn more, give me the cliff notes.
Cycling is hard. It is the hardest sport on earth. 3,000 calories a day an average cyclist needs to eat for a day on the TdF. Though cyclists may look like women they are the hardest people going around. Nobody wants to insure them and that's why they all dope. That's right they all dope. Yes they all dope. Dope. All of them. Eddy Merckx is considered the greatest champion ever and he's win rate was around 30%. Yes 30%.
Fresh Prince, what sums up cycling to you?
The words of Tim Krabbe, novelist and amateur cyclist
'Road racing imitates life, the way it would be without the corruptive influence of civilisation. When you see an enemy lying on the ground, what’s your first reaction? To help him to his feet. In road racing, you kick him to death.’

I love watching the Tour on SBS. I get so excited for some of that countryside and men in tight clothes riding through it.

3,000 calories a day? Wow. In Ireland, we call that 'breakfast'.

It's actually 5000-9000 :smug

I don't know where I got 3000- I think that really must be just breakfast.

You're right, it's impressive that they can eat 9,000 calories a day and still look like girls.

It'd be interesting if RadioShack + someone else gang up on Astana or more specifically Contador.

I will only care if Armstrong's cheating is exposed before the race is over.

So I got a roadbike recently and I am wondering if they actually designed them to be painful on purpose or if it really is a biproduct of being aerodynamic.  Fresh Prince, thoughts?
Nope, you may have gotten the wrong size bike. http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/sport/a/bikefit.htm - looks right.
Shits an art really.

I have long legs so my bike isn't set up 100% right either. But then Lance Armstrong has one leg the cants out and one leg that cants in. So yeah can't complain.

That stage on Sunday night was amazing. So much bad luck for Lance, but the guys up front really pushed the pace and I don't think he would have been there anyway

So it's down to Andy Schleck and Alberto Contador now.  Hopefully Schleck can drop Contador in the mountains at least once or he has a big chance of losing the yellow jersey on a time trial stage.
