- it's a jrpg on the ds
- namco didn't bring it over so it must be good
- there is always this feeling off "yea! suck it off japan/videogame industry" everytime you play a fantranslated title

reasons to not be excited

- being a tales of game it has at least a 75% chance to have a subplot where humans look down on elves/aliens/beastmen

damn it feels cool to make a post like this without having to worry about all the potential complication that arise from patching stuff

It's fun but it's not a real tales game (made by the Radiant Mythology guys)
It's more of a 50% tales dungeon crawler, 50% tales game.  The story isn't bad but it's super short.  The combat is good but broken and there are annoying enemies and fights. 

Still way better than Tempest, but hopefully they'll fantranslate Tales of Hearts because that's the real deal for portable Tales.

radiant mythology sucked,dumb "kill 10 bats" quest,completly unispired dungeon that where just a bunch of hallways and monster spawned at such a rate that ultimately you spent more time in combat than actualy walking trough the dungeon

this seems more decent from what i played
is there a way to check what are the special propiety of a weapon? not being able to do that kinda pisses me off

Yeah, it's them trying to do a real Tales game.  Still has some left over stuff from their dungeon crawlers, but it's a good step forward.  The real Tales team games are simply much better though.

i don't know guys,it's silly to not give the game a chance because the fantranslator put karaoke in it,or because there are bro
if anything there is worse stuff in the other tales of game

i'll post some impressions later but so far the fantranslation is quite good,they even bothered to put text on the top of the screen whenever a character says something in battle,it really makes you wonder how hard is to translate a game when a bunch of random guys can pull it off so nicely

i don't think i want to continue,it started nicely enough with all the cutscene's voiced and the world map (an institution nowadays forgotten by most RPG) but after spending a little time with the game,it reeks of laziness... it feels like i'm playing tales of legendia yet again with it's 3 enemies repeated in a thousand of color variation and it's hallwaytastic dungeons,they also seems to really exagerate with the skits,after a major event you can expect at least 6-7 skits to interrupt your merry travels

the plot is less terrible than what i would expect from a tales game but still quite boring and the whole game has these weird difficulty spikes where you can go from killing enemies in 2 hit in one dungeon to doing 1 digit damage in the next

there is an option to enter a randomly generated dungeon to complete quests but they yield almost no prize and the randomly generated dungeon is really not much different than the normal dungeons themself so in short it's a really sucky idea

yeaaah, I remember the spikes.  ToI is not balanced at all.

Game is pretty short though, so you might want to finish it if you've come this far.  Story is alright.

i'm having trouble with the dog kid,his attack deals like 120 damage and my character have barely 300 hp plus he doesn't stagger when hit!

the funny thing is that i can't go back to town because the fight happens near the entrance of the dungeon,there is no save point nearby and everytime i have to try,there is a 2 minute conversation before,it's like they were trying their hardest so i would give up on the game

so it took them 2 years to translate a super short  game? Over at their forum they said that TOI had a lot of text for a DS rpg and that it is lenghty. Someone is lying here...

Dude, a 5 hour Tales game probably has more text and dialogue than a 50 hour Dragon Quest game.  I don't doubt translating ToI was a heck of a lot of work and from what I'm hearing they did a real nice job with it

The game length is around 30 hours.  So about the normal length for a non-Team Symphonia Tales game.  The main difference is the game is dungeon heavy and light on story compared to say Team Destiny 30 hour games or Tales of Hearts.
