I remember Sly himself saying that the final rating of the movie would depend of the test screenings, I doubt that the movie was shot with an R rating from the beginning if that was the case.
Yep. Of course, now that they are marketing it as a balls-to-the-wall action film a la the last Rambo, the marketing people are going with "this is a hard R" movie...that doesn't mean it's actually so.
I don't doubt there will be plenty of explosions and gunplay, but the trailers so far have been kind of underwhelming, and even the leaked footage that was supposed to be for distributors only had zero gore, unlike the same type of footage that was leaked for Rambo IV.
