Alleyway, Elevator Action, Tetris, Pokemon, and Qix were my most played GB games. Didn't have too many of them but they were awesome.

GB was classic.  I never owned one (I was anti-portables before being anti-portable was in), but I played it at a friends place and borrowed it occasionally.

:bow :bow :bow Donkey Kong '94 :bow2 :bow2 :bow2

The GOOD Donkey Kong from 1994, before i turned into a RARE-developed collectathon-shitfest.

My favorites were definitely Link's Awakening and Donkey Kong '94.

Being a fighting game fanatic, I also went crazy when Takara started porting Neo-Geo games to the Gameboy.  The first few titles sucked (although I played the shit out of Samurai Shodown anyway), but they finally got the hang of it with World Heroes 2 Jet.

It got EGM Silver the month it was reviewed.  The game's pint-size with SD characters, but everyone is intact and the game play is there.  Played the shit out of this game back then.

Holy shit, I used to play that gator pinball game when I was a kid. It was my cousin's, but I'd borrow it from him occasionally. Nostalgia blast :o

There was another game I really liked, I think it was sort of a puzzle action game where you can control doors placed along the walls. I think you were a thief running from the cops or something, but my memory of it is really fuzzy. It's probably been 12+ years since I last played it.

demi knows what's up. :rock

One time my cousin came to visit me for a week and he had Sword of Hope, and I borrowed it from him and spent almost the whole week playing it instead of playing with him. He was like "Hey, let's go fishing or something" and I'm like "Nah, I'm playing Sword of Hope."

final fantasy adventure (seiken densetsu) rocks, but I've never played FFL2 (SaGa 2). It sounds so good though. I've been waiting for S-E to announce a English release but it seems it's not going to happen.

Should I just import or play the original on gb? How has it held up?

Still fucking love this thread.  I used to be the biggest handheld-gaming nerd out there.  When I was a little kid I'd always have that shitty soft gray Gameboy carrying case strapped on the side of my waist and would bring my Gameboy FUCKING EVERYWHERE.  Got a Game Gear in '94 but got bored of it by '95 and was back on the Gameboy again.  Was not thrilled with the Gameboy Color software line-up and moved over to the newly-released Neo-Geo Pocket (the black and white version), which I played the shit out of.  When the NGP Color hit, I didn't really touch Gameboy again until GBA came out.  GBA turned me back into a huge Gameboy nerd again.

Briefly owned a Wonderswan Crystal (yuck) and Lynx II (total shit).  Had a Turbo Express for a little while, too.

What did/does everyone have, hardware-wise?  I owned:

-The original white spinach-green screen Gameboy
-The clear "Play It Loud" version
-Gameboy Pocket
-Gameboy Light (which was a Japanese-only GB Pocket with indiglo-backlit screen)
-Gameboy Color (purple)
-Gameboy Advance (white)
-Gameboy Advance SP (black)
-Gameboy Advance SP (NES retro version)

And still own:

-The Super Gameboy adapter for SNES (the only way to play DK '94!)
-The Gameboy Player
-Gameboy Micro (Famicom retro version)

I was a Game Gear kid back in the day, that system did have a lot of good games but most of them were pretty obscure, I guess.  Most of the SEGA ports were pretty cool.  Didn't get a Gameboy until much later and stocked up on lots of titles.  My cousin and I would just go to the game store, look through the box of used Gameboy games which were dirt-cheap, and buy two copies anything that had multiplayer support and looked cool.  Ah, so many days just playing RC Pro-Am against each other!  I had a lot of Gameboy games which names I no longer remember, but were pretty fun!

Wario Land 2 was a really cool game.

The Crystalis port for GBC sucked, such a bloody disappointment considering how amazing the NES game was.

The Gameboy was the first game playing device thing that was mine and that's why I liked it so much.  All the other game systems my family had through until the N64 were my brother's, and he would constantly be trading consoles away and messing everything up.

I still own:

Grey original gameboy
Black original gameboy
silver Gameboy pocket
Indigo Gameboy color
indigo gameboy advance
silver gameboy sp
silver gameboy sp backlit
gameboy micro silver and black
gameboy micro famicom colors
super gameboy
gameboy player

My brother used to have a gameboy light and I need to find that, otherwise I own most nintendo handhelds except the DSi XL.  Same with the PSP, except the PSP Go in that situation.  Otherwise, most of them I have in a bin.  Things like the black original gameboy is probably in a box somewhere.  I haven't used that one since the batteries exploded in the late 90s.

I still need to buy a super gameboy 2 one day.

I never understood why Nintendo just lets their entire gameboy lineup rot away in the vaults. You'd think there would be some nice money to be made by rereleasing/remaking them somehow, especially with all the cartridges finally dying out.
