'The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien' earned its first and only Emmy nomination this morning.

Conan will compete against 'The Colbert Report,' 'The Daily Show,' 'Real Time With Bill Maher' and 'Saturday Night Live' in the Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series category.

'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' was not nominated, although NBC submitted Leno's work, while O'Brien's own people submitted his.

NBC forced Leno to leave 'Tonight' in 2009, handing the reigns over to O'Brien and giving Jay his own primetime show. But after only seven months, Leno's 'The Jay Leno Show' failed to catch on and Conan's ratings lagged, so the network booted Conan from the 'Tonight Show' and reinstated Leno.

O'Brien will have a new show on TBS beginning in November. Interestingly enough, TBS launched a campaign to nominate Conan for an Emmy.

It's pretty funny how NBC basically made it to where they are the worst network on television AND the most hated network on television in one stupid, stupid move.

Historically, NBC has reached the fucking 70s again. Next on the downfall: CW gains better ratings on a weekly basis on the stupid shit they put on TV.

Bigger news: Jon Benjamin got nominated for Archer.

For whatever reason voice actors get nominated for particular episodes, like writers and directors, while regular actors are listed by series.

Several different actors could possibly do the same character's voice but unless they're identical twins, they can't play the same live-action role.

am nintenho: Even if that were true (and it's not really; roles get handed to different actors on sitcoms all the time), that doesn't have anything to do with the Emmys. TV shows use multiple writers and directors over the course of a season, so it makes sense to nominate them based on a single episode. That's not the case with actors or VA's.

As far as I can tell, they set it up this way so that celebrity guest spots are eligible alongside the lead voices and they can poach a couple of movie stars for the broadcast. In this case, Anne Hathaway.

Well his ratings have completely collapsed. Network late night tv is basically all but dead though, not just Leno.

Has anyone seen Craig Kilborn's talk that started on Fox like a week ago? I love Kilborn but my god that show is horrible.

Leno's pissed cuz both Letterman and Conan get nominated for that award every year while Leno hasn't been nominated since '03 (and hasn't won since '95).

Anyway, Conan will probably win and thus upset the Daily Show's long running win streak.
