I'm pretty happy, although bit worried about whether I'll get paid before I run out of money, which would kinda ruin the new job thing seeing as I wouldn't be able to afford bus fare, or food for that matter

Going to see my fourth in two weeks, let's hope this one won't waste my time with basic Islamic values :fbm

This is too bad.  Any good shrink should be at least two parts nihilist.  You should come to New York and see a good Park Avenue analyst.  If Wrath can come to America for Sunny-D you can surely come for some premium head-care.

I might go down and volunteer for the relief Gulf oil spill.  With your lawyer skills and my ability to talk to the common man, we can plunder the south and take all the oil for ourselves!!  Like a fox

Go to the library and hid in a study cubical.  It's a change in environment and yet you don't have to see people.

But really - you can go far on a bike.  You can see a lot of cool stuff and get exercise.  Just do it!  If you hate it, sell the equipment.  I bet you'll hang onto it, though.

I still do it.  The two seconds it takes for people to walk past the cubical, glance at me, face semi-fallen when they realize the cubical is already taken, and me to look back at this person - both of us understanding that I had won; that today was my victory - is enough human contact for me.

Virgins are overrated. And I lack the experience to help them learn much of anything. Even if I did know something about sex once, I'm sure that I've long since forget it.

Thinking about it a bit more I'm imagining something like the group research scenes in Buffy, only with an orgy going on at the same time. Everything would take place in a big room with half the space, and about half the people at any given time, devoted to the orgy itself, while the other half of the people would (1) observe the proceedings, (2) research process improvement ideas (that half of the room would be set up as a library) and (3) shout out any resulting good suggestions.

I guess it might work better if the room were circular with the action in the center and the research library section around the rim and at a higher elevation.

Well my Latin prof said I had a singing voice and a hair dresser once said, after me telling her that I was getting a philosophy degree, that I should become a song writer.

yeah, my school offered a pretty decent amount of courses this summer and they keep adding a few here and there.  Like random 3 day long all day 2 credit seminar classes in the beginning of August...Not sure if this is the reason, but I think a lot of people got their asses kicked in 1L (I definitely did) and they're offering chances to make up for it to retain more students, since they have a high attrition rate.

That sounds like a good idea. Glad you're doing well in your summer classes.

I have one year left, the knowledge of which is partly responsible for my terrible depression and anxiety of late. I will be trapped in a profession I want no part of, and there's nothing I can do. /emo-whitewhine

I'm going to try and get a prescription for an anti-depressant tomorrow to prevent myself from manabyting the dust. I'm also going car shopping, and maybe that will help, too: Why would a guy who just bought a car kill himself? Exactly! (Can you believe I took three different logic classes in college).

yeah, I want no part of it either...which is why I'm gonna get a job somewhere unrelated and start grad school pretty soon after law school's over.  Of all things, I might do something in sociology of law, which focuses on the societal effects of case holdings.

(We have two former lawyers in my unit  :teehee )

But seriously, sorry to hear that you're going through all this even though you're still not really interested in the profession.  What area of law are you looking to practice upon graduation?

Corporate law--at least that's what I keep saying (I don't want to specialize in an area that might actually help someone), but I really have no idea.

I've taken just one elective through my first two years, meaning that I get to pick all my classes next year. yay. I'm actually meeting with the new associate Dean on Wednesday. Hopefully, she won't expect me to attend classes. That would really ruin my days (I don't even know what I do with my free time).
