It sounds like the browswer is ok for a free browser.

I sure hope Nintendo doesn't try and charge for it in the future though.  That would be lame.

The charge comes from opera

You can get it free until the end of june.

It's serviceable and will get better.

Yeah, Nintendo could certainly decide to just pay Opera for creating them a browser and be done with it.  They don't have to charge for it.  They're choosing to.

Just like they chose to put 512meg of memory on the system, when everyone knows most of us will fill that up in the first year.

There you go again protecting Nintendo.

What the fuck dude. Nintendo went to Opera for an Internet Channel. They demonstrated it before the Wii was out. It's Nintendo's fucking fault they are charging for it.

I'm not protecting anyone fucker, for god's sake.

Opera is charging for licensing, and Nintendo is picking up the tab for how ever how many millions download it before June.

christ.

I'm pretty sure the majority won't fill up the 512MB of flash.

Do you have a Wii?

I don't.

Thank Nintendo for shipping only 10,000 units here.

I would fill it up the space, yes. But I doubt a mainstream consumer would.

Less than 270MB of that space is actually usable, and all the Virtual Console games are bloated in size. Stuff like Internet Channel, Forecast Channel, and presumably News Channel take up tons of space. A normal consumer can fill it up within a few years of owning the console.

Wait, maybe it was just Internet, someone will have to confirm. Either way, if Nintendo plans on having more than 2 channels in the future, it's going to use up about 8-10% of your memory each time. A few supersized VC downloads and it won't be hard for even mainstream owners to fill their space within a year or two.

editx2: Amirox says it was 200 blocks, too.
