I like casinos for the atmosphere, but I can't imagine playing 3 hours straight of a mini-game just to get some good items.  After about 5 mins in a casino with 1 try of each game, I'm done and never go back.

if i can waste several hours punching bear to learn skill i can waste several hours playing poker

EDIT: i killed the 4th boss without much problem,he had around 12000 HP,a level 3 linked fire spell did 4000 damage to him! :lol,i think i might be overleveled, everytime i get a new set of weapon i feel the need to grind WP so i unlock every skill,so i end up fighting a ton more than i should

anyway i'm annoyed there is no way to return to previous city,i have several quest which remain unfinished because what i need to kill is in a place where i can't return >:(

i skipped the casino and arena entirely and haven't really had to grind much at all, a wii rpg isn't worth the effort

i was minding my own business when suddenly BOSS OUT OF NOWHERE,he uses a spell and petrify my whole party in a single turn of combat
INSTA GAME OVER
now i have to repeat the whole dungeon because the guy who was in charge of putting save points trough the game was asleep when doing this one and forgot to put one before the boss
did i mention there is also a lot of dialogue before the end of the dungeon?
not cool arc rise fantasia, not cool >:(

pfft, gula was easy

wait for the next boss fight on the beach, took me like 5 tries

spoiler (click to show/hide)
it's alf+adele+titties mcgee, and if you lose it, it's not game over but you don't get the ice rogress

be sure you trinity attack alf in the first round, then defend the next. you need to wipe out alf before he gets his second rogress attack off or you are fucked. after that, adele will go down in two rounds, and then you can concentrate on titties mcgee and her dumb self-healing ass

yeah i just killed gula without problem spamming wind spells,i didn't say that it was hard just that it's kinda stupid how it attacks you without warning and how he can defeat your party in a single attack if you don't know what he does on your first turn

Yeah I can't do that either :P
I have very little patience for grinding anymore.  Stopped being fun after I could buy more than 1 game a year.

holy fuck the spoilerish fight was so good :hyper
i haven't had so much fun with a rpg since forever :hyper
spoiler (click to show/hide)
turn 1 i cast above and beyond on ragnar, doubling his HP reaching the huge total of 6500,ryfia dies, turn 2 i resurrect rydia and heal her,i conserve my AP,turn 3 i waste all my AP doing all the best special attack i have,i deal a great total of 7000 damage to alf and pull off a new trinity attack which is earth elemented, adele cast ignition on ragnar dealing him 4000 damage, even in total tank mode the guy still end up in the red :lol,i pull off another trinity act on alf and he's down before being able to summon his rogress, turn 5 i spent all my AP healing since i had to skimp on healing to quickly kill alf, turn 6 i do another healing round because adelle pulled off his best attack and now my guy are debuffed :lol, afterr that i finaly chips away at adelle with other trinity attack and then she dies, then i finaly mop up titty-mcgee

i can't believe this game has the average of 6 on metacritic,it really shows why you shouldn't trust reviewer when it comes to rpg

Sounds like a cool game.  I liked the first few hours, will get back to it eventually.

Glad between 7th Dragon, this and Last Ranker, Image Epoch has stopped being a shitty new jrpg developer and started being an ok new jrpg developer.  Now they just need to make their breakout hit game.  Hopefully with something less generic looking.

If you hate Grinding you will like this more. Grinding is really non-noticable.

Run into enemy > start "All Attack" auto-fight > win

The -only- difficulty spikes are during bosses.

I got sidetracked iwth Crackdown 2 though. I can only play a Gamecube for so long...

magic is really overpowered in this game, using my best attack i just did 15000 damage to a boss who had 20000!

EDIT: i perma-missed a weapon,stuff like this really piss me off >:(
it's fucking 2010 and japanese still haven't learned that this shouldn't happen
it's even worse when you think the dungeon in question doesn't even have save points and as soon as you reach the boss room you can't go back anymore,of course there is nothing that indicates which road leads to the boss and which one leads to the weapon >:(

whelp this thread has fallen pretty far
anyway i'm getting near the end and this is a really good rpg,in fact it's a shame it's a wii game,it should have been a ps2 game and put together with all the other cool ps2 rpg

most review gave the game a 6 but they all consist of "VOICE ACTING SUCKS" which i personaly don't think it's that bad (makes me wonder if the best way to fix any VA in an rpg is to have the voice character voiced by john yong bosch) and "OMG THERE IS SO MUCH GRINDING" which is a false statement (i find especialy funny when one of the reviewers said that there is a lot of grinding and then proceeded to call magic useless :lol) also "OMG THE PLOT IS SO GENERIC" but it's really pretty standard RPG stuff and the plot kinda turns into the SMT neutral ending (yes! remember? the rpg with the awesome plot! apparently all it takes to make a plot worse is to take away your ability to choice)

none of the review ever make mentions of the awesome customization you can do on your character or mention the game being hard as a good point (which seems to be a good point only if saying it's bad will piss to many people off) so please if you like jrpg, the next time waste your money (or your bandwith :smug) on this one

finished it in 32 hours. shit story and characters (even for jrpgs), great battle system and boss fights. decent pacing. gross graphics. 5/10.
