Old Rumour: Star Wars X Wing, Tie Fighter.. Possible remake?

I only ever played the original X Wing game and it blew my mind as a kid (my first game purchase ever). You play as a Rebel and destroy the Death Star over Yavin. It's fuckin amazing anyway. The best Lucas Arts game I've ever played.

While lookin around for the updates for X Wing and Tie Fighter that run on XP and have more VO's and cutscenes I ran across a rumour started August last year. A distant hope which can hopefully be made new with some rumours/info soon... Fuck I want a remake of that game/a new entry in the series that's true to it's roots.

I'd choose X Wing anyway since it's what I've played and would be an awesome nostalgia trip.

I pray nightly for a revival of the space combat sim genre. 

I only ever hopped in for X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, then X-Wing Alliance, plus the Freespace games.  Missed out on Tie Fighter.

TIE fighter is the best. I hated X-Wing vs. TIE figther, but I thought X-wing Alliance was pretty good.

Would be cool, but less cool, if it's just putting the old games on Steam and making them able to run like the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight packs (which didn't even run 100% properly).

I have you ignored for dissing Soccer and promoting Tennis I always end up reading stuff by people I ignore anyway, hence ignored no longer.

You can play the updated version on XP, just VM it. .......

It's a netbook, I don't know if I can do VM. I dual boot to XP though.

It's easy to get going on XP?

Apparently it works in vanilla XP. I haven't tried it yet though, will post back later when I get it.
