I'd like to see that happen, but with the market shifting hard on to portables in japan, and the vast increase in development costs on the HD consoles I'd say the odds are rather slim. Strange Journey and P3P, to me, seems indicative that they are moving more stuff to portables.

Strange Journey recycled a lot of material they already had on hand, and P3P is just an enhanced port.  Plus there was news several months back that they were hiring programmers for some big project...hopefully a PS3 Persona or SMT.

Get rid of the virgin weeaboo sim shit.  If you're enjoying that and lamenting your lack of a girlfriend at the same time that's a big clue.

I think less than half of the social links are relationship-related.  Get over it, it's a mainstay of the series now.

Incorrect.

I love Slinks.

But slinks wouldn't work for another entry without a major overhaul. P4 felt so similar to P3 because of them and same P3 formula in P5 would be a cop out.

social links were fine...till you figure out that you can only do one per day or so.

customizing personas is also distinguished mentally-challenged, i don't want to use some lame ass monster or fuse him with another lame ass monster, i just want the default one with fucking abilities. but no, date some whores, read some books and then fuse some demons.

what a boring game.

Maxing out your s-links lets you create unique personas that are otherwise unavailable to you.

- i doubt they'd get away with it but moving it away from school to be set in, say, an office would be interesting though ultimately probably disasterous.

Yeah the office/twentysomething life idea was the first that came to my mind too, sort of like Buffy -> Angel. But apparently everyone in Japan thinks of adults and adult life and especially salarymen as boring and disgusting, including the salarymen themselves, so I guess it wouldn't fly.

^ Those are all pretty fair complaints, and I agree with most of it. Atlus has been improving the fusion system in recent games (Devil Survivor lets you choose a skill to carry over), so I think they're finally starting to understand that hitting O and X 50000 times is not fun and a complete waste of everyone's time.

awesom-o you know how social links work right? basicaly you have to reach a certain score each time, you get a better score if you

1) trigger the s.link while being equipped with a persona of the same arcana as the s.link (so equipping a devil persona while doing the devil s.link)

2) answer right on every event

the bigger your score the less "you feel your relationship is going to become closer soon." i remember screwing up totaly a rank 9 event in persona 3 and i had to sit through 5-6 "you feel your relationship is going to become closer soon." thing before being able to finish it!
and yeah it's fucking stupid but there is nothing in this game where "hard" means "random enemy will explode in your face giving you an istant game over... hope your last save wasn't 1 hours ago" that isn't stupid

I want better dungeons, that's my main gripe about P3/P4. Large levels, more unique layouts and designs, environmental hazards like traps and puzzles, and stuff like that.

Combat that doesn't revolve around dying first to find out what party members to bring along for the second try.

Because Persona 1 and 2 didn't have social links and social links is a formula that works for only a few games. That teet has been dried up a long time ago.

Make it a traditional rpg, no s-links. Pretty simple, been done.

the first half of P2 got a fantranslation but it also got a psp port which is getting officialy translated this september and supposedly comes with a lot of enchancement (i hope they added the option to skip animation like in the second half of P2 because playing the game otherwise is a huge pain in the ass)

so maybe you should wait, anyway P2 is a somewhat rough game but i still love it,the character are completly awesome

fact: this bit of dialogue alone is better than anything on persona 3/4

Quote
"Oh, here's a new enemy I haven't seen before. Analysis doesn't tell me his weaknesses, but he has Garudyne (wind)... maybe I should attack with Ziodyne (electricity)? Fuck, he reflects that too? Alright, try ice. Fuck, he absorbed that. Try fire. Sweet, that hit him for decent damage, let's try it again. Shit, he's casting Last Resort."

*Game Over Screen*

"I'm going to look up that enemy in a FAQ. Oh, it was LIGHT he was vulnerable to. Light. Didn't I have a persona with Hamaeon? Fuck, I used him in a fusion, and he costs 20,000 to summon again. I only have 10,000 because the goddamn fox charged me all my money to heal my SP. Time to grind."

aaaaaahhhhh.... it makes me so happy to find someone that share my view about the combat being bullshit, everytime i tell that to someone they watch me as one of those crazy guy with a "THE END IS NEAR" sign

Once you've figured out weaknesses and battles are clicking on all cylinders, the combat is amazing. Nothing more satisfying than hitting the weakness for 2 out of the 3 enemies onscreen, having Chie Galactic Punt the last one into space, then gang-rushing the two that are down.

and what joy there is in fighting a bunch of mooks who never take a turn? the one more system is absolutely awful, why even have random enemies if they never get a chance to act? it's no wonder that every boss in the game has no weakness

IT'S LIKE THE GAME ITSELF REALIZE THE SYSTEM IS BULLSHIT

Usually what spells an enemy has is a big indicator, though.
