I'm looking around at apartments/condos/homes and in terms of condos/homes there doesn't seem to be anything under 2 bedroom. For homes, ok that makes sense I guess, but for condos...why is there no market for 1 bedroom?

The way I see it is you need a bed for you & the other person in the bed with you
and a couch (possibly pull out couch) for letting friends crash.

and that's it for sleeping arrangements if you don't plan on having kids in the next 10 years.

Although I guess you can just not put a bed in the 2nd bedroom and turn that into your home theater room if you want that to be separated from your living room.

Selling a one bedroom condo/home later on is a bitch, either because most buyers want a second room or because they know that when they go to sell it down the road, it'll be a bitch to sell because everybody wants a second god damn room.

Trust me though, you'll use the space if you have it.

When we had a one bedroom apt though, it was manageable. I'd do it again if I was in the situation. I'm used to multiple bathrooms now so that would be hard, but I still wake up to people sleeping on my couch no matter how many bedrooms I have, so whatever.

once you live in a 2 BR, it's hard to live in a 1. once you live in a 3, it's hard to live in a 2. that or I'm easily spoiled. roommates void my scenario.

There's plenty of 1 bedrooms available where I live. I think that's fine when you're single, but you NEED that extra space when you're living with someone else. The last apartment I had was great when I was a bachelor, and then after I got married it felt cramped. We made it work, sure, but having another room would have been really nice. You also have to think about the amount of space that will be taken up by each others' personal items and especially clothes-- a 1 bedroom might not have the closet space for both of you.

Convenience! You can partition different aspects of your life into different rooms. Assuming you like having things like that. Personally I wish I had a bedroom, a study and my own lounge.

You should be able to find 1 bed room apartments. I can understand condos and homes, but aren't 1 bedroom apartments pretty standard? Where do live, Bebpo?
