Holy shit.

I just got my BS. While I'm happily going to do it, I have a feeling this isn't exactly how it's supposed to work.

I co-taught an undergrad psych class while in graduate school... that was... interesting.

Was it a 100-level class?  A few days ago I was cleaning out my storage closet and found a bunch of papers and assignments I did as a college freshman in 100-level classes.  My god they are terrible.

Yeah, it was Psych 101.

I have a really close friend who is a Sociology professor at SUNY Albany. Her stories about her Long Island students are priceless.

Not Long Island in particular, but more like the spoiled Long Island kids who don't want to go to college, but their parents make them.

That's awesome Ecrofirt

I always wanted to be a college professor, but masters in Japanese route didn't work.

Still might end up being a law professor.  Want to, but it's not easy to get into.  Probably would need to go Lawyer -> Judge -> Adjudicate Professor -> Professor.

I love teaching.  It's so much fun :)  But I'd really like to teach adults.

I would suggest that there is not necessarily much direct progession from Judge ---> Professor.

Neither that becoming a judge is a prerequisite to becoming a professor, nor that many judges decide to step down from judging to teach.  that's just my guess, though, I suppose.

And if I didn't get into law enforcement, I might have gone all in with the academic route.  At the end of undergrad, though, I was just drained and tired of school at the time, and deathly afraid of the mountains of debt I would have to accrue if I kept going with school.

Not too many regrets at having a well-paying, secure career, and being 100% debt-free before I turned 26.

It's not, but if you didn't go to a fancy top school and place in the top of your class, it's gonna be real tough to find a teaching job.
But if you're a judge and you want to teach classes on the side as adjudicate professor, most schools will be glad to have a distinguished judge.  And you don't need to step down from being a judge to do part-time law teaching.  Only if you want to move to full time.

Will try both ways

:( Sorry. You seem to be doing plenty good for yourself, dude. The chicks will come around.

At least you haven't successfully pissed away every opportunity for 6 years.

That's why you don't piss away the opportunities that present themselves in the next 6 years :)

Past never matters, just focus on today forward.
