The wife wants to go out to some Korean BBQ place tonight. I'm not feeling it but she wants to go with her friend and her husband, and I'm the only one who can drive, so no choice really. Normally I'd be fine with it but we've been spending too much on eats lately and this would be kinda late tonight, plus a bit far out.

Then tomorrow night is a friend's 30th birthday. Apart from that, not doing anything apart from house cleaning...my brother is getting married next weekend and family will be staying over.

I had hoped to play some D&D later tonight, but never got the word on a time, so I'm guessing that's out. Saturday night I'm heading up north to check out a ska band, then probably back to a friend's place for a party after that. Sunday, chillin' out, relaxin', maxin', all cool, playin' some WoW and not going to school. You know, since I don't go to school anymore.

Oh yeah, and hoping I don't get called into work.

It's our 2nd wedding anniversary.

The rest of the weekend is filled with friend-related engagements. All of them are extremely gender-biased though - LAN party (girls are allowed, we can hang out with the guy's wife, but she's my husband's hilariously crazy ex girlfriend and all she'll do is talk about her cat :'(), and a bridal shower. So yea, a whole lot of us not hanging out with each other...

We're going to the Japanese steakhouse tonight though.

Tomorrow - going to see either Eamon Harkin/Justin Carter/Theo Parrish at a loft party in Brooklyn, or going to see Masomenos/Nina Kravitz at a party near NYU. Or maybe just hanging around playing PSP. Who knows yet?

But tomorrow night, in contrast to my usual status of having no life, I have an embarrassment of options.

a hot coworker whom I have a crush on mentioned in passing that her and two others might be going for a night in downtown Toronto, dinner and clubbing, and invited me.

Other hot chick in Kingston (three hour drive) invited me to a party out there.

Parents invited me to come back home to watch the UFC fights.

College friend and her boyfriend invited me to head to a pub to watch the fights.

And I almost had a dinner with a coworker and his wife and another chick as a way of awkwardly setting me up with this chick. But that fell through.

Dammit, why can't people spread out their invites?! No life for most of the summer and then, BAM! I'm the most popular guy in the city

Normally, I would irrationally choose the option most likely to get me laid, but let's not kid ourselves here, that's not likely. So I have some choices to make in the next 16 hours.

Well, my wife only has a learners here so she can't go by herself, and the other couple are visually impaired...the husband is blind and his wife can only see things that are very close to her.

But it got canceled tonight and moved to Sunday.

That's currently the frontrunner. The problem is, I only enjoy being at a club for about the first hour...then I get bored, or frustrated, and want to leave. And if I can't leave (relying on someone else for a ride), I tend to retreat to the bar....with not very healthy results.

Used to drive down with my family to Florida when I was a kid, nice 24 hour drive through the middle of nowhere... I think because of that experience I am totally used to the long car rides and I love road trips.

Working from home today (Sunday). Which sucks of course but:

1) There's only about 1-2hrs of work for me to do
2) I get a lieu day anytime I want, and I'm taking it on my birthday

Yesterday, we took the kid to the water park near my house. It was incredibly freakin' hot but she loved it - couldn't keep her off the slides! Wish I'd been able to do fun shit like that when I was 2yrs old!

I bought us a bottle of German riesling for our anniversary to share, but I bought him a 6 pack of IPA made by Flying Dog, the brand that has the Hunter S. Thompson quotes and the same illustrations from the books all over it. I don't drink beer, but there is that fruity Framboise beer shit, so I bought a bottle of that too so I can technically drink beer with him.
