out of all this, the ipod touch comes across as a really decent pmp for the price

hd video recorder, 5mp still camera, front-facing cam for video calls, high res screen, gyroscope + accelerometer for $229

You can add anything you want to your iTunes library. Most of the movies in mine were just ripped from the disc and converted to MP4.

That's why you just use handbrake to convert them to iTunes compatible MP4s. That way they'll run on anything from an iPod to an iPhone/Touch. You can even convert them to the .m4v container Apple likes.

I don't want to watch movies on my iPod or iPad though ... I just want to watch 'em on my TV. So that's a lot of conversion for no real benefit.
