Are ps2 component cables worth it?

Even if most of my games aren't 480p? is the jump in quiality worth the trouble of ordering these cables on amazon.

If you're using composite, yes. I busted out my PS2 a few months ago to play Sakura Wars, and I could only find the composite cables, and even on my 20" TV, it looked muddy and the text was hard to read. I bought a $5 El-Cheapo brand PS2 component cable a few days later, and it looked a lot better.

Only real reason to get them is to play games that support 480p. You can definitely see the benefit in Star Ocean 3. Which reminds me, how archaic was it for some games to get 480p going, you had to press triangle and square? with R1? or something before the game logo came up.

It's not worth it, you will see. You won't see results like the PS2 emulator pulls out. Just use your old puerto rican SDTV that you use

God of War II looks pretty good with them, but Kingdom Hearts II is still blurry.

All I remember is GT4 looking like shit through component. I'm sure it helps some games but others look terrible

Lots of PS2 games on my PS3 look worse when they're in 480p.  Which I always thought strange.

so don't make a big deal about it.

They're compatible with the PS3 if you have as well, which helps since HDMI cables don't come standard with PS3s.

The only bad thing I've found with the component cables is that some HDTVs (mine of course) can't display the PS1 games. It will split the image due to the native resolution of the games. Yes you can play them through HDMI but I miss the smoothing  :'(
