Ok, actually watched. It started off feeling really fake, but I ended up looking forward to it anyway.

I don't watch tv, I havent had a cable tv since 2006 or so.
Karl Pilkington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Pilkington) is not (yet) a tv celebrity, he's famous from being on the ricky gervais podcast. The entire podcast revolves around him and his idiotic, hilarious views on life. He's not fake, he's totally real. When I first heard of him I also thought he was fake, but then I listened to all podcasts.

He also wondered wether his brain controls him or he controls his brain.
"At some point, somethin has had it away with a leaf" [Karl's explanation of an insect which has evolved to look like a leaf to protect itself from prey]

There's an entire wiki dedicated to him (pilkpedia). The guy is unbelievable.
I've listened to all the XFM radio shows with Ricky Gervais and the subsequent Ricky Gervais podcasts, guides and audiobooks more than once. I can't get enough of the little mank. He's given me so much joy with his buffoonery.

I love the word "buffoonery," but can never remember one "f" or two, so I tend not to use it. This may have saved my job on several occasions.

I listened/watched everything Karl related, to me it's played out. Especially Ricky's stock reactions.

I agree that he's being genuine, but Karl seems to play up his character a lot. Listening to the early radio stuff he is a lot less stonefaced in his idiocy.
