Ninja Gaiden 3 - MADE IN JAPAN

Attending a behind-closed door reveal earlier today, the image of Ryo Hayabusa holds secrets of the game to come. Ryu is pulling off his mask to represent a more human side to the series' protagonist and the idea that players will discover more about him.

Ryu also has blood on his face, representing a more violent and bloody experience to Ninja Gaiden 2. You can also see a reflection of a person in Ryu's eye, perhaps suggesting an inner darkness which he is trying to contain - the likelihood is this darkness will manifest itself with new abilities.

Finally the flames represent Ryu's decent into a hellish realm and the hell he plans to unleash on his foes.

The game's currently without a firm release date or platforms.

It'll be better than DMC, sure.

But I expect an entire game on par with the original content in the Sigma games...which isn't promising!

One game that came out almost a year ago does not mean the action genre is alive. It's on life support at the moment.

-Itagaki bailed to make westernized shit
-Capcom has lost their fucking minds
-Shinobi is dead
-Hayashi is leading Team Ninja
-Mikami is wrapping up Vanquish, which is half action game half TPS
-Kamiya is ???
-Western-developed action games aren't worth playing

So basically all that's left is Kamiya, Mikami, and Hayashi. Mikami and Kamiya make more than just action games, so who knows what they'll do next. :-\

Didnt Ryu go to hell twice already? Can't he kill angels now? DMC already did that, it's ok to copy the superior product

No one wants to learn more about Ryu.  Keep the mask on and just have him slaughter power ranger monsters.  They should have learned how shit that would be from Metroid Other M.

Hopefully they have more water based stages.  Those bits were amazing in NG2.

"The baby dragon...

Ryu should give partial birth to a dragon out of his stomach at the beginning of the game, then the dragon can be used like the devil bringer, biting dudes and bringing them close in for a combo or for throws/OTs.  Through the whole game, the thing is dripping blood, growling, and breathing fire.  It can also eat dudes to give you life/ki power.  At the end of the game, Ryu cuts the dragon's head off, then eats it, where it promptly falls back out of the wound in his stomach.  Then he has rough sex with Momiji.

2+ years of development to balance it properly
NG2's combat system
NG2's level design (linear levels, no pseudo open world shit, no puzzle sections)
weapon survival missions
no useless women

NGS2 is snores.   I forgot they took everything out of the water sections in the Venice stage :lol   you just run through nothingness for like 5 minutes where there used to be like 500 fights.  Granted, shooting that shit underwater was bad, but if they put in the NGS1 auto-run (instead of hitting X), some of those fights could've been fun.

The NG1 karma system really needs to come back though.  I feel crazy because it's like no one even knew it was there, but that's what has kept me coming back to beat the game multiple times per year.

are you for fucking real? they need to go in an entirely new direction from ng2 with both combat (there isnt as much freeform creative canvas in the ng2 system, easy amputations and the lack of edgeless weapons made it hard if not impossible to juggle and toy with enemies like you could in ngb.  half of the fun of getting good in the first game was feeling like fucking neo when you've memorized every enemy and every combo, like you could see all the 1's and 0's, maaaan. just kidding, but nothing was better than going into a mob of different dudes with just your nunchuks and shurikens and just fuck with them for awhile, all while having to micro manage 10 different things at the same time and having to anticipate what the 3+ dudes huddled around you are gonna come at you with while you're fighting one of his friends in front of you...wait what was i talking about again?

agreed.  dismemberment makes NG2 kinda boring.  Find the moves that take off limbs, then OT OT OT OT.  NGS2 makes it obvious by trying to be NG1 on NG2's engine.  The tension isn't there.  Which is why Itagaki filled NG2 with spam and too many enemies.

I thought it was great how the werewolves would use their limbs as weapons.

And I don't see why that makes it lame. I thought it was an interesting strategy. You'd fight 10+ enemies at once, and thinning the herd with limb removal was pure strategy. You had to take out enemies as fast as possible or they'd kill you.

I dunno. I thought dismemberment helped make the game have a sense of tension NG1 didn't have, well, at least on normal. Because it almost always a race against the clock. There was no way you could keep defending against 10+ werewolves at once, so you have to improvise by taking them one at a time and thinning the numbers. It was legitimate strategy. Those guys would fuck you up otherwise.

they would throw limbs from off-screen before you chopped any limbs.  and the torsos would take off all your life.  NG1 was like little fighting game instances with some dudes putting serious pressure on you while you simultaneously tried to cut a hole through their defense.  When you died, you knew why. NG2 was like a bad bullet hell shooter with tons of impossible-to-avoid deaths because there's simply too much shit going on to manage it all and it was all random based on what the AI decided to do...I don't think anyone would disagree that luck played a huge role in it.

This is a Team Ninja game, that is not possible.

I still would like to see a Dead Or Alive action game in the style of Ninja Gaiden, focusing on Ryu, Hayate, Kasumi, and Ayane.  Surprised that never happened.
