National Novel Writing Month 2010
« on: September 17, 2010, 11:42:26 AM »
First year I'll be doing this and it coincides with Movember, so my artistic integrity will be at its peak!

I figure I'll start on my outline now and try to crunch 2,000 words a day starting the 1st.

Anyone else gonna man up? Mine is a Earth Defense Force fanfic called DAYS OF THE ANT!

Hmm, I've wanted to do this for years, but only gave it one aborted effort years ago.

I might actually be able to man up and give it a shot this year.

Except for one time, every time I signed up for this on the GAF contest, I always found myself banned.

I won't be doing it this year, BTW.  It is a great contest but you need to be on it daily and sometimes you just have other shit going on to keep up.  Which means spending hours on end making up the time.  Good luck though!

You got banned because of other circumstances?

Yeah.  The GAF contest had it set up where you'd enter yourself into the contest and report once you hit your goal (or at the end of the month).  I'd sign up and while writing the story, I'd end up banned for something else.

What is this, exactly? Can I win something?

You write 50,000 or more words in novel form in the month of November.  You don't need to do this all online - you can just type it out on your computer and upload when you're done.

You don't win anything except developing creative writing skills I suppose.  My first submission was god awful.  Everything went great until the last 15,000 words or so when I realized my epic concept was actually pretty short.
