Gran Turismo 5 is really boring and doesn't live up to the massive hype surrounding it. Really, it's just a tech demo masquerading as a game, but, of course, fanboys just lap it up.

Yeah the night rain stuff look balls out amazing BUT it's still GT5.  I'd rather watch paint dry.

looks incredible

but I will not be fooled 4 times.  Already own Forza 2 and 3, GT5p and I barely touch them.  Will buy Need for Speed Burnout instead and have fun.

It looks nice, but Sony fanboys preaching GT5 as the second coming of Christ have turned me off from the game.

GT4 was released in 2005.

And it's not like GT5 is the first game that got that treatment. There are enough games with long development time. And a lot of those games ended up being pretty shitty, or look like shit.

Polyphony Digital is a very talented developer and a perfectionist. GT1, GT2 , GT3, and GT4 are all excellent games and were released pretty fast after each other.
It's just that PD is taking their time with this one, and it shows. There's so much content in this game.

the rally bits might be cool. I remember playing those in GT4 a lot. Then again, I could just buy a proper rally game... Do they still make those?

I've been playing some Need for Speed World recently. It's probably more fun than any Gran Turismo game.

It's also free.

So Fatty McFatteron was victorious, and also looks way older than his 9 year old challengers? Way to go.

"But this won't be like one of those topics. My OP is going to exist for the sole purpose of trying to articulate why this game is so special and why it has inspired in me such a inner fire to get others to play it. Everyone knows how prone I am to hyperbole, but most of the time it's real tongue-and-cheek and I'm just being over the top because that's who I am. Yet there are a few games this gen that have really just done it for me, that have defined what I feel gaming is all about. Demon's Souls. Super Mario Galaxy. Bioshock. The Orange Box. And yes now, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light."

I just wanna pimp the shit out of an 09 Honda Fit and go bonkers on a test track.

I'm assuming you can do Forza 3-style mods / customization in GT5 right? Not trolling, but the last one I played was GT3.
