Nice writeup. Explains why the game is really addicting. I loved it but I had 2 complaints in the Japanese version:
1. Too many weeds/mud in random dungeon. Kind of irratating
2. Instead of having 8000 pieces of loot like Disgaea and crew, which would make the game infinitely playable for weeks, the game has like 20 swords, 20 pieces of armor. So it's done after about 20 hours, nothing left to do. This is why I want a sequel that improves on the gameplay while adding 8000 pieces of loot. Also Japanese version was $50 as opposed to $20, so I wouldn't have minded the low content as much if it'd been $20.
Also a huge DLC came out later in Japan, should come out later in the US as well. It gives you a new random dungeon that is closer to the item world from Disgaea. Instead of starting at lvl.1 with lvl.1 monsters and lvl.1 loot. You start at the level of your atk+def stat / 4. This means you jump right into great loot and tough monsters. Good stuff, but I'm guessing it's not in the originally game because it'd make it really short and no one would ever use the ran-geon.
PSPS. Remember that the reason why you guys like this game so much is because System Prisma who is the developer is a chunk of N1 that made Soul Nomad (which also had awesome creative gameplay) and then when SN bombed and N1 said "shit we need to focus on DISGAEA DISGAEA DISGAEA", these guys split off as System Prisma to keep doing original creative games, just on a super low budget. They just put out DOT DEFENSE for $12 on J-PSN yesterday as their next game following Classic Dungeon. It's a spin on the Tower Defense genre that includes a level editor so people can make their own tower defense levels and share them. I bought it yesterday but haven't had a chance to install. I hate Tower Defense genre so I'm pissed they did this instead of Classic Dungeon 2, but whatever maybe it'll convert me. I just want to support these guys as they make better gameplay than the main N1.
