The final boss fight QTE was like DBZ. I beat it, I really liked it. The final section of Chapter 11 kept going on and on, it was like they didn't want the game to end . I changed the difficulty to Squire on Chapter 3 to see what it was like and I never changed back, I think that's why I liked it so much, not too hard but exactly a pushover either. Artwork section is awesome. Shame most of you don't care for it.

I hope this sells well so we get a sequel, that ending was interesting. Playing a game like this in that time period would be cool.

Because platforming can be fun and amazing and auto-platforming makes me cry.

Platforming games are my favorite genre, and auto-platforming is the usually the quickest way for me to dislike a game. That, and the godawful character art in Enslaved is what's keeping me from getting it.

EDIT: You can't even fucking jump in Enslaved unless you're near a ledge. Nothx.

Oh I know what it is. I'm just explaining why auto-platforming is a turn-off for me. I have played Super Mario. Many times. I wish there were more 3D platformers, since there are only like, a handful of good ones atm.

I understood how to get by it only because I play way too many video games and it just made sense to me.  It is like in good platformer segments where you need to swing back and forth to build up speed.  Difference is that in Castlevania, it doesn't really make sense unless Gabriel had springs on his legs.  But yeah, they don't explain it to you at all.

The platforming is pretty bad.  It's really clunky and seems straight out of a PS1 game.  It isn't Hydrophobia bad, but it is still really outdated.  Like, when you're walking on a platform and need to balance yourself, they take away all your controls except movement.  Ignore all the crazy power ups or natural human abilities you have because the second you touch a thin platform, Gabriel loses it and is forced to slowly move across that beam.  Then there are times when you're trying to take a running leap off a platform, but at the last second his toe hits a pebble and he just does a normal leap to his death.  Oh, and they don't even let you fall to your death.  Falling from someplace they don't want you to auto-kills you.  The only time platforming is entertaining is late in the game when they have those portals.

Honestly, it has been a long time since I've been this baffled by the reception this game has gotten.  Reviewers mostly had it around the average, but gaf is practically ready to blow anyone involved with the game.  The presentation is mostly great and the only thing that really stands out, but the mechanics aren't good compared to similar games and there are design decisions that would make Japan blush.  And for a forum that constantly complains about a tech analysis between console version and whatnot, everyone seems happy about the poor performance.

^ that's because gaf sucks. They blow any game with the name Kojima thrown around, and since the usual suspects there hate IGA, I can understand why they like this suckfest of a game. Seriously, I am at chapter 5-2 and moving some stupid statues around. I have no urge to keep playing.

Yeah I played the music box last night. One of the worst levels in the game easily. It's just very tedious going back and forth, and the platforming on those red sections was really annoying. The first level of chapter 10 was really bad too. I actually got stuck there for like 15 minutes, because the camera was positioned poorly and I thought that one path was a dead end, when in fact it lead to the next area. Haven't looked up the answer to any puzzles though. The Frankenstein one wasn't hard at all imo.

I don't get the complaints about this game's combat though. The whip + all of the abilities you get from armor + magic are better than any one of Kratos' weapons. God of War just wins on variety since Kratos gets like 4 weapons compared to Gabriel's one. It doesn't have much depth, but there's enough combo versatility to keep it fun. Enemy patterns are are well designed, and instantblocking someone mid attack and then annihilating them is even better. You are even rewarded for getting through encounters without getting touched (the yellow meter), so that's always a plus.

There are *some* enemies that take a while to kill (like 40 seconds to a minute), like the skeleton warriors or the mountable enemies, but they are hardly the norm. The standard mobs you face take like 10 seconds each to kill if you are using the more powerful attacks, how much faster do you want it to be? Ninja Gaiden 2 style where you can kill nearly anyone in 3 seconds? God of War is far more guilty of damage sponge enemies.

Just beat this. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. The first two chapters and the last two or three chapters kinda suck, but everything in between was good. Especially the sections involving an actual castle.

I was about to complain about the lack of

And really, who didn't see Sean Connery turning heel on you from miles away? Lame.

This game is the prime example of style over substance. It's like they paid overtime for the artists but left the Game Designers on a lower payscale. So we got shitty fucking gameplay.

I'd suggest people just watch an HD walkthrough of this online. It's not worth the hassle and frustration of playing.

Not sure why so many are shitting on this game.

It's pretty damn good... it's not AAA, but it's still really fun.
Combat is solid, style is awesome.

Doesn't really feel a whole lot like Castlevania though.  As a fan of the series... that's the only real problem I have with it.

I just got to chapter 7 and can't wait to get back to it.

Or maybe people are just to damn critical.

The game is fun, gorgeous, has a great combat engine and has some challenge to it.

As I said... it's not perfect, but it doesn't deserve all the hate it's getting.
Metacritic has it pegged at an 85 right now... I think that's pretty accurate.

The Lords of Shadow are members of the Brotherhood of Light. They went to heaven, but left behind their dark halves. Zobek is the final lord of shadow. He kills you. Satan was the one controlling Zobek's strings. You are brought back to life. You beat up naked Satan. Your character slumps over and that's it. The God Mask doesnt bring people frm the dead. It lets you see through God's eyes. So he gets to make out with his dead wife's ghost before she disappears.

A scene where Zobek meets someone in a tower. It's DRACULA. WAIT. Zobek calls him GABRIEL (thats you). So for some odd reason Gabriel becomes Dracula. Satan is coming back and he's going to enslave everyone (again). Dracula tries to bite Zobek. Zobek pushes him out a window. We see it's the 21st century (omg). Dracula screams and poofs away.

Game is so bad it makes me hate games.  You play this for an hour and suddenly you're like, "You know, my grandfather *is* right.  I *should* be taking a walk and enjoying the nice weather instead."

Castlevania did make me cancel my GoW Ghost of Sparta order.  I enjoyed the demo (played it before LoS), but Castlevania killed any will to play anything similar for a long time.

I'm at the end of chapter 2 and I'm hating life.  Does this game get any fucking better?  The levels are boring, it takes way too many hits to bring down enemies, having to click the R and L sticks to collect magic is BS, and I'm getting depressed looking at the world map and realizing that there's just a ton more of this crap ahead of me.

Someone please tell me this picks up.
