Super Scribblenauts
« on: October 13, 2010, 03:57:34 PM »
well i gave this a try hoping to see if it's any better than the original since everybody says it's so awesome (ehy,it's the power of piracy! you can hate on me if you want :-*)

but anyway it's still somewhat clunky (apparently you can make something gentemanly but the game won't recognize adjective like horned or bearded which yet again shows that "stupid" is a bigger priority for these guys than "working" or "complete") but at least the developer seems to have done a better work than making a bunch of "BRING OBJECT A TO OBJECT B!" even if the stuff you see is still pretty simple

aaaaaannnnnyyyywaaaaaayyyy, level i have dones so far

spoiler (click to show/hide)
1-2: the game has a bunch of "use a word with similiar characteristic!" puzzle, this is the first and it has a giraffe and a plesiosaurus, guessing that the theme was "animal with long necks" i used flamingo
1-3: a car is broken,i type engine
1-4: the game ask you to make a beach party! i typed beach ball and beach umbrella
1-8: a guy is frozen in ice and you have to free him,i wanted to be original and wrote fire magic, the game didn't recognize the fire part but recognized magic which gave me a ball that turns item into boquet, apparently turning the block into a bouquet was enough to clear it
1-9: make a body out of parts by putting them into a machine,i typed head, arm, leg, torso, brain and heart... probably works only on this level
1-10: this one was a "puzzle" in the loose term of the word, you had to unlock locks in the correct order and there were a bunch of statues,a baby,a kid,a man,and an old man... GEE I WONDER WHAT I SHOULD DO,the dumb part of the puzzle is that the lock are color coded but if you use a key,the key just disappear and you don't have any idea if what you are doing is right or wrong, instead you have to write a YELLOW key for the YELLOW lock and so on.....
1-11: the game asks you to give weapon to villagers to turn them into an army and you have to get 4 different kind of warrior, the problem is that the game doesn't tell what you get with what,so if you write axe and then spear the game goes "NO NO,THEY BOTH CREATE A WARRIOR!" which is a completly arbitrary rule made for this stage only

anyway i used an axe (created a warrior) a sword (created a knight) a magic wand (created a wizard) and a ray gun (created a martian)

2-1: "use a word with similiar characteristic" there is a turtle and a snail,"animal that go slow" SLOTH!
2-2: a guy has to gently fall trough a precipice,i writed parachute and it worked, then i tried to challenge the game and wrote "flying pig" which didn't work... but "flying rideable pig" did,i'm not sure why i had to specify that
2-3: lion need to sleep, dart gun
2-5: somewhat original scenario, maxwell is playing a magic trick so he has to make a lion vanish, there is a moveable wall both behind and on front of the lion and 2 lever, guess how it works?
3-1: a witch has to make a love potion and ask for something sweet, something slimy and something beatifull,i type candy, slime and art
3-2: "use a word with similiar characteristic" there is a vampire,a leech,a bird and an helicopter "things that fly and suck" MOSQUITO! i tried a flying vacuum to see if it would work but nooooooooooooope
3-4: wake up a man and put out a fire, the fire is doused by water and the man awaked by an alarm clock,i tried waking the man with the water but it didn't work... laaaaaaaame
3-5: there are a bunch of equation and items

the first goes like "GHOST - BLANKET = INVISIBLE GHOST"
the second goes like "MAN - CLOCK = ?????"
the third goes like "ELECTRIC GUITAR - ???? = WOODEN GUITAR"

i type "busy man" in the first slot and "electron" in the second... i also tried baby instead of busy man but it didn't work
[close]

oh also fireworks still explode in my face >:(

After Scribblenauts stole 30 of my goddamn dollars, I'm never trusting this company or anything related to it ever again. Seriously, Scribblenauts is the worst game I've ever paid money for in my fucking life, hands-down.

It also made me realize that trusting GAF's opinion of anything is probably about as stupid as pounding nails into your skull.

ahahahahahahahahah
yea i would have been pretty pissed too :lol

anyway this feels like professor layton for toddlers (it even features a similiar hint system) which ehy it's already close to an actual game so i guess it's an improvement

one puzzle asked me to make me a cross between a building and an animal, the solution? a furry house... that makes sense right? :S

EDIT: another pissy moment, the game has this configuration

Cheese,Dough     ,Sauce
Ham    ,Chef       ,Chocolate
Bread  ,Cinnamon,Egg

and it ask me "give maxwell a food that uses these ingredients, connect three in a row" so i type cheeseburger and... only cheese and bread lits >:(

then i try chocolate ham and it works :S

Cannot believe that 'GAF' is still in this game. Why don't you assholes put MAF in instead?

Because Gaffers are the only ones that play this crap. (And Magus because he doesn't own a real console.)

When I hype crap (ie. my mecha games) I admit it's crap. GAF should learn from me.

See, I can feel that. I have a soft spot for some games that are considered shit, but I don't advertise them like they're so great. For instance, I love GTAIV. It's an abusive relationship, but really it's the only GTA game that I actually liked. I don't tell people that it's amazing, I tell people that I enjoyed it but it isn't for everyone.

Way too many people, trolling or otherwise, have almost no ability to discern opinion from an unbiased critique, and that shit poisons intelligent conversation.

lol

i tought ham was just meat but apparently i'm wrong.... well what can i say my english failed me :-X

Quote
Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Hot Ham just create a normal piece of ham so it doesn't work, cheese sandwich creates a sandwich made of cheese instead of a sandwich with cheese but apparently a normal sandwich does the Cheese + Ham + Bread combo just as well

anyway some other samples

spoiler (click to show/hide)
1-5: two boys want to play sport,i type soccer ball and soccer goal
1-6: you have to cause the extinction of dinosaur without using asteroids or weapon,i typed death but the game admonished me "the objective is creating an extinction event, not simply kill the dinosaurs" i'm pretty sure death murdering everyone would count as an extinction event but whatever, the game likes the word tsunami as an "extinction event"
1-7: "provide a home for each creature!" i type cage for the tiger, house for the man and stable for the cow
2-4: the aforementioned furry house level
2-6: the aforementioned ingredient level
2-7: "what does this kid want to be when he grows up?" there's a football ball,so i summon football player,a fireman hat so i summon a fireman,a stethoscope so i summon a doctor... you know i can't help but find it funny that people would take it as an insult if i said that "scribblenauts is for kids!" :teehee
2-8: there is a zombie and a robot,"MAKE SOMETHING THAT SHARES BOTH QUALITIES" i type zombie robot
2-9: give a man dragon-like qualities,i give him flying,scaly and fire-breathing
4-1: there is no puzzle there and all you have to do is pick the starite but since there are giant turtle's,fire breathing flowers and man-eating plants coming from pipes gaf has already declared it the best level ever
[close]

you know one thing i find amusing is that if you type suicidal man and then type gun,the suicidal man takes the gun and then kill himself... that's pretty dark for a kiddie game that doesn't even allow stuff like beer :S

well i've played like 75% of the stages (they are all really short) and i must say a lot of puzzle boils down to "name 5 different kind of professions" "name 5 different kind of plants" "name 5 different kinds of museum stuff" i must admit there is some basic fun in doing that but it's also somewhat boring and simple especialy since there are quite a lot of repeated concept with just different object or adjective to use and altough there are some original stage too, they still boil down to "summon the right object"

as the gamespot review said sometimes the game fumbles and stuff that should be right doesn't work... one stage has maxwell take the role of the tooth fairy,he had to put a boy to sleep, pick his tooth and then leave some money,i summoned a dart gun and shoot the boy,it put the boy to sleep but it didn't count, then i tried to make a sleeping potion and gave it to him with the same result, the problem? the game wanted me to give the kid a book so he could sleep naturaly :duh

another stage wanted me to sneak inside a wedding, again an invisible cape counts for sneaking in but a disguise does not,i tought of hiding inside a box a-la solid snake but since there is no option for putting yourself inside container, there's also no way to do this

another stage asked me to recruit 5 different kind of teacher, but the game only recognize "math teacher" and "english teacher" as word and also lump "english teacher" in the story department instead of the linguistic one,in fact i have no idea what the games want me to do since the game refuses any "spanish teacher" of sort :S
